Spypig - Tells You When Your Email Is Read

MOST email clients like Thunderbird and Outlook have a feature which when set, notify you when your email is opened by the receiver. However the same was not possible if you sent an email from a website like lets say Gmail, Yahoo mail etc.
Now you can.
There’s a website - Spy Pig - which sends you notifications when your email is read by the receiver.
How to use:
The tool is fairly easy to comprehend. All you have to do is enter the email address where you would like to receive the notifications, in the next column enter a descriptive message so that you know which email was read, like - Mail sent to Facebook for their web developer job - and finally hit the button which would create an image. Here you have the option of different images and even a one with white image (blank) in case you don’t want to let the receiver know that you are getting a notification. Once the image is generated, you have 60 seconds to copy paste the same in your email and send the email.
How the feature works:
The image is stored in the company’s server and is linked in your email. When the email is opened and the image is displayed, the server is notified. Which in turn sends you the notification.
Note: For this feature to work, email should be sent in the HTML mode and images should be allowed to display in the receivers email. (By default this is true, unless the receiver is getting his/her emails in an email client like Thunderbird or Outlook).
Pros and Cons:
This feature has its advantage. For instance, if you are responding to a job offer or somebody on Craigslist, you would like to know whether your email was even read.
But on the flip side, if you are the receiver, you may find it annoying as it infringes upon your privacy. (By disabling the image load in your email you can render Spypig useless).
Like the site informs it users in the disclaimer, the tool is meant just for fun. If theres any conflict like break up or divorce or feud that begins with I-know-you-read-my-email speech, it must be resolved without involving the site!

most email clients including webmail disable offsite images until explicitly allowed. Thus rendering your web bug service useless
