Eyeball Tattoos: A Big Craze at Jails and Prisos

Eyeball tattoos are a big craze at jails and prisons. Yes, we are used to seeing inmates all inked up with various photos and inscriptions permanently etched on their bodies. Now, inmates are wanting something else – eyeball tattoos.

Before you freak out, you should know that the only people that can give you an eyeball tattoo are doctors. Think about it – would you want a tattoo artist working on your eye?

At first, eyeball tattoos were used to correct abnormalities in the eye to make them appear normal.  Now that people have caught on to the fact that you can have colorful ink injected in to the whites of your eyes you can only imagine the response.

The long term effects of eyeball tattoos include blindness, infection, perforation, and hemorrhaging of the cornea.

Before tattooing the white of your eye, think about if you think you will like the look forever.  It’s highly unlikely that you will be able to reverse the colorful designs in your eye any time during your life.

Even though the eyeball tattoo is most popular in prisons, you can expect that it will become increasingly popular on the streets within due time.

Michael C Hall Cancer: A Battle for Dexter

Michael C Hall cancer, a battle for Dexter:  for those of you who are not familiar with Michael C. Hall, he is the star of Showtime’s hot series “Dexter.”  Michael C Hall plays a Miami PD blood splatter analyst/serial killer in the series. 

It was recently announced that Hall has been treated for Hodgekin’s Lymphoma, which is a treatable cancer.  It is said that his treatments are almost done, appear successful and that he is in remission.

The actor will be at the Golden Globe awards on Sunday night.  Dexter is up fo two awards, and hopefully they will walk away with something.

Season 4 of Dexter ended with a shocker.  Many people have been talking about the show for weeks, wondering how the next season will play out.  For those that haven’t seen the final episode in the series, let’s just say that it’s truly something that isn’t exactly expected.

According to Cancer.gov, the symptoms of Hodgekin’s lymphoma are “the painless enlargement of lymph nodes, spleen, or other immune tissue…fever, weight loss, fatigue, or night sweats.”

There are over8,500 new cases of the disease during 2009 and only a little over 1,500 deaths.

It’s been said that the cancer can either be cured or treated for many years.

Our thoughts are with Michael C. Hall and his family during this time.  Many people love this actor and send well wishes his way.

Age is another factor which plays a role in the onset of diabetes. Those who are 45 years of age or older are most at risk for developing diabetes. Those who are of Hispanic/Latin American, Asian American, Non-Hispanic Black, American Indian, or Alaskan native descent are also more at risk for developing type 2 diabetes. Having a family history of diabetes, of course, also puts you at risk of the condition.

Exercise and Healthy Diet

Two of the main keys to diabetes prevention are following a regular exercise routine and sticking to a healthy diet. Doing cardiovascular exercise for thirty minutes three to five times a week is a great way to shed the extra weight that puts you at a greater risk for diabetes. Eating a well-balanced diet that consists of mostly vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains is also ideal. Avoiding foods that are high in sugar, including sugar that is naturally found in fruits or vegetables, can help greatly reduce your chances of developing diabetes. If you are diagnosed with high blood pressure or any other health problems that may increase your risk of developing diabetes, it is best to try to treat or manage them.

Routine Doctor’s Visits

Visiting the doctor on a regular basis is ideal for anyone who wants to prevent diabetes. The reason is because your doctor can test in order to see if there is a chance that you have pre-diabetes, which is when blood glucose levels are higher than they should be but are still not high enough to be considered diabetes. Many people do not begin taking action to prevent diabetes until they have been diagnosed as having pre-diabetes first.

These are just a few of the things that you can do to prevent diabetes from affecting you. Since it is a condition which is not easily treated, you should not take the risk of diabetes lightly. Doing all that you can to prevent diabetes is in your best interest.
