And many would like to know what that black thing is on Kerry Walsh’s shoulder.

Is it a tat? Is it some surgery covering, some sponsor logo.

Many of the viewers saw this black thing on the shoulder while the Beijing 2008 Beach Volleyball USA against Cuba was being aired and a lot of viewers initially thought that Kerri Walsh had a black color tattoo but now people are not sure.

If not a tat, then what it is!

According to experts, the announcer said it was a type of bandage she wears ever since her last shoulder surgery. Its kind of like a icy hot patch to keep the pain away and the blood flowing.

Its called Kinesio tape and is used to help out the blood flow in the shoulder. She had surgery on it last year.

Kp is correct, it is kinesio tape. It is NOT like an icy hot patch. There is no medication on the tape. It works though its elastic properties.
