Actor Johnny Depp won big at the â€œ2010 Peopleâ€™s Choice Awardsâ€ on Wednesday night in Los Angeles with a special honor for a decadeâ€™s worth of work.
Depp won in the 2010 Favorite Movie Actor category for “Public Enemies,” but when presenter Sacha Baron Cohen announced his name, he revealed another honor for the great character-actor Depp.Â Depp had earned the most votes of all â€œPeopleâ€™s Choice Awardsâ€ over the past 10 years, earning him the Favorite Actor of the Decade honor.
â€œIâ€™m deeply humbled by this great honor,â€ said Depp when he accepted his award in person at the Nokia Theatre.
Depp thanked the fans, who are responsible for the â€œPeopleâ€™s Choice Awardsâ€ votes.
Deppâ€™s movies from the past 10 years include the â€œPirates of the Caribbeanâ€ films, â€œCharlie and the Chocolate Factory,â€ and â€œSweeney Todd,â€ all in which he played memorable roles.
â€œIt has been quite an amazing decade,â€ said Depp.
A much-anticipated upcoming role for Depp is that of the Mad Hatter in Tim Burtonâ€™s â€œAlice in Wonderland.â€
The talented actor has yet to win an Academy Award, but has been nominated three times.Â Â HeÂ did receive another prestigious honor recently with being named People magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive.”Â That’s nice and all, but let’s hope Depp can one day have “Academy-Award Winner” before his name, too.
