Depp won in the 2010 Favorite Movie Actor category for “Public Enemies,” but when presenter Sacha Baron Cohen announced his name, he revealed another honor for the great character-actor Depp.  Depp had earned the most votes of all “People’s Choice Awards” over the past 10 years, earning him the Favorite Actor of the Decade honor.

“I’m deeply humbled by this great honor,” said Depp when he accepted his award in person at the Nokia Theatre.

Depp thanked the fans, who are responsible for the “People’s Choice Awards” votes.

Depp’s movies from the past 10 years include the “Pirates of the Caribbean” films, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” and “Sweeney Todd,” all in which he played memorable roles.

“It has been quite an amazing decade,” said Depp.

A much-anticipated upcoming role for Depp is that of the Mad Hatter in Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland.”

The talented actor has yet to win an Academy Award, but has been nominated three times.  He did receive another prestigious honor recently with being named People magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive.”  That’s nice and all, but let’s hope Depp can one day have “Academy-Award Winner” before his name, too.
