Avatar Movie Review: Avatar Movie Reviews from the first screenings are mostly positive. Avatar has an 82% review numbers on RottenTomatoes.com, which is no small feat. However, some critics’ reviews are less than glowing. Â
Avatar opens in theaters today. Many are very excited to see this sci-fi fantasy thriller. According to the Telegraph UK, Avatar is about “a disabled US Marine, Jake Sully, who is sent to Pandora, a moon of the distant Centauri star system, to find supplies of “unobtainium”, an energy-rich mineral. Upon arrival, Jake discovers a world of beauty and innocence, populated by 10-foot-tall, blue-skinned beings called the Na’vi, whose peaceful existence the humans proceed to rock.”
The special effects which can be seen in the movie’s trailer are amazing. The Na’vi look as if they could be real. They don’t look like strange creations made simply for the big screen.
The visual effects are what make Avatar reviews glowing. However, some critics don’t like the story line and feel that it’s all glitz and no substance. One review claims “It might be more impressive on a technical level than as a piece of storytelling, but Avatarreaffirms James Cameron’s singular gift for imaginative, absorbing film making.”
As with Twilight: New Moon, less-than-stellar reviews from critics can be overlooked if a movie is a hit at the box office. After all, it’s how much money Avatar ultimately rakes in that will determine it’s success – not a few reviews.
Cameron’s characters are what make this story, similar to how special effects were what made his blockbuster hit “Titanic” such a great film.
Will Avatar flourish or flop? Will the multi-million dollar movie pull in a large bankroll? What will the public think? Avatar movie reviews will keep rolling in during the next days. If you plan on seeing the movie, don’t listen to the bad reviews. Just go see it for yourself.
