Meb Keflezighi won the New York City Marathon this morning and completed it with a personal best time of 2:09:15. An American hasn’t won the NYC Marathon since 1982.
Meb Keflezighi, 34, emigrated from Ethiopia to San Diego, California in 1987 and became a US citizen in 1998. Keflezighi has been running most of his life and won a silver medal at the 2004 Olympics.

Derartu Tulu, 37 from Ethiopia was the first female to finish the NYC Marathon this morning with a completion time of 2:28:52. Keflezighi and Tulu will each receive $130,000 in prize money.
