Sahel Kazemi undated booking photo from Davidson County Sheriff
The July deaths of Steve McNair and Sahel Kazemi has CBS News asking questions and uncovering new information. The police believe that Sahel Kazemi shot McNair, then shot herself in his Nashville condo on July 4. The couple had been dating for eight months and the police believed that Kazemi was having financial problems and was unable to pay her bills, and was extremely stressed out
Kazemi bank statements that show her balance was over $2500 on the day of her death, and there was enough money in her account to pay her bills. They have also spoken to friends who said that she wasn’t the unhappy person the police were making her out to be, but that she was in general a very happy person.
It has also been discovered that Steve McNair who was married, and dating Kazemi, was also having another affair with Leah Ignagni. McNair co-signed a lease for his cousin, and paid the rent in person each month, but a few months ago it was discovered that his cousin was not living in the apartment.
McNair’s large estate is in probate because he did not have a will. It is estimated that he made over $90 million in pro football salary in the last 13 years, and made additional money in marketing deals.
Last night, in defense of the 48 hours show that CBS News ran about the case, Tennessee police released detailed text messages that were exchanged between Steve McNair and Sahel Kazemi the night of the murders that show Kazemi was stressed out about money. The text messages do not show an elevated level of stress that would lead to murder.
