Andrea Bocelli, born on 22 September 1958, is an Italian operatic pop tenor (never knew there was a pop tenor?) and a classical crossover singer who has also performed in operas.
To present, he has recorded over six complete operas in addition to various classical and pop albums.
He has sold more than 60 million albums worldwide thus far. (Sheesh, thats a market comparable to American rapper CDs).
Born with congenital glaucoma, Andre Bocelli became total blind at the age of twelve, after a football accident.
Despite his worldwide popularity, Bocelli has often been dismissed and severely criticised by music critics.
Andre has been nominated for Grammys but I don’t think he has ever won yet. He has performed with Celine Dion during Grammy awards.
