A former flight attendant on Oprah Winfrey’s private jet is suing the talk-show host’s production company, Harpo Inc., for wrongful termination.
Flight attendant Corinne Gehrls and chief pilot Terry Pansing were fired a short time after allegations were made that they slept together on a June flight, according to a Reuters report. Gehrls said that fellow flight attendants Myron Gooch and Kirby Bumpus, who is Winfrey’s goddaughter and the daughter of Winfrey’s best friend, Gayle King, “falsely told Winfrey and Harpo†that she and Pansing “had been observed having inappropriate intimate contact outside the cockpit of the plane,†according to an EOnline report.
Gehrls has denied the allegations and reportedly took and passed a polygraph test.
According to the lawsuit, the jet was on the ground to refuel at the time of the alleged encounter, The Chicago Tribune reported. Winfrey, Bumpus, and other passengers were asleep “throughout the flight following their ingestion of sleeping pills,” the lawsuit claimed. The lawsuit seeks more than $75,000 in damages from Gooch, Bumpus, and Harpo, according to reports.
Oprah and her Harpo production company have not yet commented on the lawsuit.
