Jody Powell, ex Carter administration press secretary, died Monday. Jody Powell worked in the White House under President Carter and then moved on to a public relations executive job.
Jody Powell was 65 years old and the cause of death has been reported as a fatal heart attack. Jody was at him home in Maryland’s Eastern Shore at the time of the fatal heart attack. Jody was no stranger to heart problems, having a previous attack some years back.

Jody was my first roommate at the Air Force Academy in 1961. We were both farm kids, he from Georgia and I from Illinois. We had no previous military experience. Consequently, we suffer through the first year with a fuzzy roadmap.
Jody and I last saw each other in DC when I was stationed at the Pentagon (1978). We didn’t agree on politics but still had an intense respect for one another.
