The former Blue Power Ranger came forward and said he quit after being chastised for being gay. The Blue Ranger was the onlyPower Ranger who was present in all 200 of the original series. Â David Yost is his name, and he played Billy Cranston. Â Well, now Yost is coming forward and shedding some light over why he left the series.
When the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers became Power Rangers Zeo, Yost’s character became a “technical advisor” and then his character eventually went to another planet to live.
Yost says he was tired of all the gay taunts.  He was called the “f” too much.  In an interview, he said “I had just heard that several times while working on the show from creators, producers, writers, directors… Basically I just felt like i was continually being told I was not worthy of being where I am because I’m a gay person. And I’m not supposed to be an actor. And I’m not a superhero.â€
Being gay is not as big a taboo anymore as it was in years past. Ken Mehlman, the former RNC Chairman and former Bush election campaign manager recently came out of the closet.
