Terminix releases list of top 15 cities favored by bed bugs, sending the country in a sort of mini-panic as people living in the cities favored are worried about infestation.Â Bedbugs are a parasite that lives off of human and animal blood, although they do not spread diseases.
The rate of bedbug infestation has skyrocketed in recent years, and scientists believe itâ€™s because of increased travel and the ban of certain pesticides.Â In fact the problem is so bad that the EPA actually hosted a so-called â€œBedbug Summitâ€ where communities were advised to not try and use strong pesticides indoors to eradicate the problems.
The bottom of the list was Minneapolis, and in January a local paper reported that the city was building large devices to kill off bugs in the projects. Cleveland, Louisville, Indianapolis, and Boston bring us up to our 10th place spot which is LA.Â
Politicians arenâ€™t the only bloodsuckers in Washington DC! They have bedbug problems too, as do Dayton, Columbus, Denver, and Chicago.Â
Cincinnati, Detroit, Philadelphia, and New York top the list.Â If anything I see from this list, I am going to definitely stay out of the Buckeye state! Four out of the 15 top cities for bedbugs on Terminixâ€™s list are in Ohio.Â Thatâ€™s a whopping 26.6%!!
