Evelyn Lozada, a star on the VH1 reality show “Basketball Wives,” has filed a lawsuit against Vanessa Davis, a woman who didn’t make the cut to be on “Basketball Wives” (and ex-wife of NBA star Ricky Davis), according to documents obtained by TMZ. Â For internet stalking, hacking into her e-mail, and stealing her naked pictures (those that were disseminated onto the internet), Evelyn Lozada is asking for $15,000 in damages. Â And all I can think to ask is: Â Is there a typo here? Â Isn’t that amount missing a couple zeroes? Â After Vanessa Davis allegedly tried to “ruin her reputation” and supposedly harassed her, Evelyn Lozada only asks for $15,000?
And what did Evelyn Lozada posit as Vanessa Davis’ reason for stealing her topless pictures and hacking her computer? Â Jealousy that Evelyn Lozada made it onto the cast of “Basketball Wives” and Vanessa Davis did not.
In answer to the complaint against her, Vanessa Davis says that the lawsuit was without merit and that Evelyn Lozada has no evidence. Â She plans to counter-sue.
But the question must be asked: After suffering through harassing e-mails, hacked e-mails, a threat that the anonymous hacker would “make money” off of her, messages being sent to her daughter where the sender pretended to be Lozada, and the theft of private half-naked topless pictures from her computer files and seeing them “leaked” to the internet, Evelyn Lozada only wants $15,000 in damages?  After being defamed via a blog as a “high end prostitute,†a “drunkard,†and a “hoe ass,†Lozada is willing to settle for just $15,000 for all the trouble caused?  Isn’t she being just a little lenient on the woman who is accused of trying to ruin her reputation?  Just $15,000 for harassment, threats, and internet stalking?
Or is Vanessa Davis correct in stating that Lozada has no evidence?
But, then, why file a lawsuit? Â On principle? Â It would seem that, if Evelyn Lozada had a real case against Vanessa Davis, she would have hit her with a much more substantial sum for damages. Â Add a couple zeroes to the end of the number… and that would be just for bringing the daughter into the mess…
