Two people were shot to death at the Old Navy store in Chicago’s Loop retail corridor on Friday, according to authorities. Investigators believe it was a murder-suicide.
“Right now we are looking into the possibility that there was some relationship between them,” Chicago Police Chief of Patrol Eugene Williams said.
The shots were fired just before 11 a.m. at the store at 35 N. State Street, according to the Chicago Sun Times. Employees and customers reportedly ran outside upon hearing the gunshots.
The paper cited a source who said the gunman shot the woman, an Old Navy employee, multiple times before shooting himself in an employee-only area of the store’s basement. No one else was hurt. No names were released.
Police continue to investigate.
