Dixie Chicks Begin Work on New Album Without Natalie Maines

Dixie Chicks begin work on new album without Natalie Maines.  The Dixie Chicks are a popular country music trio (now a duo) that have won 13 Grammys and even won Entertainer of the Year at the CMA awards in 2000. Natalie Maines was the lead singer, so it will be interesting to see what the future of the Dixie Chicks will hold.

Natalie Maines received a lot of backlash when she made remarks about President George W. Bush. During a concert in London, Natalie Maines said “Just so you know, we’re on the good side with y’all. We do not want this war, this violence, and we’re ashamed that the President of the United States is from Texas.”

Yikes.  That kind of killed the Dixie Chicks dead in their tracks, and could possibly be the reason why Natalie Maines is said to not be associated with the group any more.

There are no details that have surfaced about the project. Reports are unconfirmed, and the name of the Dixie Chicks new album hasn’t been released.  The two remaining Dixie Chicks are sisters.

Reports indicate that there isn’t bad blood between the trio.  The three were together for the holidays, and seemed happy and healthy.  A source close to the band says that they appear to still be an “entity”

For Natalie Maines to say what she did about the President and not back down took courage and stamina. I applaud her. I truly hope her not singing on the new album or the rumour she has left the Dixie Chicks has nothing to do with her saying what she did.

I have always liked their music. Now to add to this, I have tremedous respect for Natalie. What ever she decides to do I wish her good luck.

I, and millions of others, have enjoyed the Dixie Chicks’ music for many years. But more than that I have admired the Erwin sister’s business savvy for dumping Laura Lynch in 1995, hiring Natalie Maines and dramatically changing their look and sound.

The Chicks formed in 1989. Laura Lynch, a founding member left in 1992 so it is fair to say that the groups first five or six years were ‘formative’. In the 15 years since the Erwin sisters had the foresight to hire Maines, the group has gone on to have phenomenal success. Maines, though a lighting rod, makes the Dixie Chicks what they are.

Without Maines, all we have is a couple of incredibly talented singers, song-writers, and musicians. Maines makes the Dixie Chicks whole, and greater than the sum of its parts.

Without Natalie Maines, the Dixie Chicks cease to be.

This seems to be just a side project for Martie, and Emily. Natalie is rumored to be doing a collaboration on Maroon 5′s upcoming album that’s to be released early this year as well. I’m sure all three Chicks will be back in the Studio in the future making an amazing new Dixie Chicks album. Together they are an amazing Band!

Miss those chicks. Hope that the three of them will come back again. The sooner the better. However, looking forward to the upcoming work of the duet.

I “WAS” a big fan of The Dixie Chicks until their stupid singer Natalie Maines made that horrible statement about the President of our country. That is when I NEVER again listened or purchased any of their music. I am happy to see that the big mouth Natalie Maines is no longer with them. If this is a constant, then I will start buying their albums again but not until I am convinced Natalie is no longer with them.
