The U.S. Government pays rebate checks to U.S. citizens, who have paid the income tax dutifully and on time to the government. This procedure is serviced by the U.S. government’s Internal Revenue Service and they deal with this procedure very meticulously.

Last year’s i.e. 2008’s rebate checks were mailed to all requisite U.S. citizens from May 2nd 2008 by the department of internal revenue services.  Normally the amount that an individual gets in his/her tax rebate, ranges from $300 to $600.

The government expected that the first phase of rebate checks to be delivered will be completed within the month of July, which was really a great prediction as the internal revenue service’s team worked hard and many American citizens got their rebate checks within the month of July itself.

Some citizens were not happy with the checks they got though this was not the mistake of the government as they paid exactly what an individual deserved.  In order to solve these kinds of problems and to increase awareness among fellow Americans, the U.S. government came up with a brilliant idea which was to launch an information center where people can get all required information about their rebate checks along with other information related to tax issues. Also, a point to be noted is that veterans were given prime priority over others.

There is also a special category of tax rebate for children for which the amount is about $300. For this parents have to obtain social security numbers for their kids or the child they are adopting. Otherwise they won’t be eligible to get the rebate checks. So it’s the responsibility of the parents to make sure that their kids get the social security number to qualify for rebate checks.

The most important part is that to get rebate checks, an individual should file their tax returns within the period that is foretold by the Government. If you fail to do so, you won’t be eligible to get the rebate checks. So make sure that you file your tax return within the timeframe to avoid such causalities.
