Coming June17, 2008, same sex marriages would be allowed by the state of California. California supreme court in a revolutionary verdict that overturned the state’s defense against the marriage act and gave a go-ahead to Californians, including gays and lesbians living outside the state can register in the state of California.
Although same sex marriage is still denied at the federal level, only two American states allow same sex marriages to be registered in their state. California is one and Massachusetts is the other.
The difference between Massachusetts and California is that Massachusetts allows only its state residents from registering the same sex marriage where as California marriage office will allow anyone from the country to register the marriage.
With so many visitors coming over, it is but given that these visitors would hire cabs, rent cars, shop for events, stay in hotels or rent etc. , all of which will give quite a needed boost to the economy.
