Palmdale Fire 2010 – A Horrific California Wildfire in Palmdale Evacuates Homes (VIDEO)

The Palmdale fire 2010 is underway, as a horrific California wildfire evacuated homes in the area along the Leona Valley.  More than seven square miles have been affected by the blaze, and nearly 1,500 homes are threatened.

At 6:00 this morning, there was no containment of the blaze as the flames kept shooting on and on. Nearly 7,000 acres were torched.
The California wildfires are scary each year.  The dry conditions coupled with the Santa Ana winds make the perfect conditions for a rapidly spreading inferno.  Homeowners in California always have the possibility of a wildfire in the back of their minds.

If you are in California, be mindful.  Don’t throw your cigarette butt out on the ground because it could start one of these horrible fires.

Currently, no injuries or fatalities are associated with the Palmdale Fire 2010.  Power has not been affected to areas outside the fire zone.

Amazon Kindle Price Drop – Could $139 Kindle Drop to $99?

The Amazon Kindle’s price dropped to $139 making it an ultra affordable e-reader.  The Kindle competes with not only the Apple iPad, but also the Barnes & Noble Nook.  As smartphones and tablet computers improve, the popular device will have to fight even harder to keep market share. We venture to estimate most e-readers will have to reduce their prices in the future as more manufacturers bring e-readers to market.
In addition to the iPad, a $99 e-reader from small manufacturer Copia is said to be in the works of release. This will further drive down the price of devices like the Kindle and the Nook.

According to the Wall Street Journal, ““The iPad disrupted pricing strategy for everyone in the e-reader market, and after the price wars with Barnes and Noble and Amazon, everyone’s trying to differentiate themselves from a price-point perspective,” Tony Antolino, senior vice president of DMC Worldwide, said. “We decided to do a revision of our hardware positioning.”

What do you think? Are you going to purchase the Amazon Kindle at the reduced price of $139 or are you going to wait and see if it drops to $99

Bristol Palin, Levi Johnston are Kaput After Levi’s Love Child Announcement?

Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston are reportedly split up amid an announcement that Levi is going to be a father again.  While the two were broken up, the rumor du jour is that Lanesia Garcia became pregnant with his baby.  A representative of the Palin family indicates that no decision by Bristol has been made as to whether or not to call off the wedding, although we can only imagine how hard it would be to have this other child in her life.

So far, the story goes that the two former love birds are only communicating via text message.  Bristol Palin has such a successful career ahead of her, we can only imagine that no matter what she will be okay.  She is, however, reported to be “heartbroken” about the ordeal.

Ellen DeGeneres Talks About Leaving ‘American Idol’

Ellen DeGeneres has announced she is leaving “American Idol” after being on the judges panel for season nine.

Ellen DeGeneres American Idol

Ellen DeGeneres, 'American Idol'

Her statement about leaving the show was posted on “American Idol’s” official web site:

“A couple months ago, I let FOX and the American Idol producers know that this didn’t feel like the right fit for me,” said Ellen. “I told them I wouldn’t leave them in a bind and that I would hold off on doing anything until they were able to figure out where they wanted to take the panel next. It was a difficult decision to make, but my work schedule became more than I bargained for. I also realized this season that while I love discovering, supporting and nurturing young talent, it was hard for me to judge people and sometimes hurt their feelings. I loved the experience working on Idol and I am very grateful for the year I had. I am a huge fan of the show and will continue to be.”

‘American Idol’ Judge Shakeup: Who’s In and Who’s Out?

There’s “a whole lotta shakin’ goin’ on” for the next season of “American Idol” on the judges panel, with the departure of Ellen DeGeneres and Kara DioGuardi and the possible addition of Jennifer Lopez and Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler.

American Idol

First, Paula Abdul left the show. Then Simon Cowell bowed out at the end of last season.  So that left original judge Randy Jackson with DioGuardi and DeGeneres as a panel, but rumors had been circulating all summer about who the fourth judge would be for season 10 (Elton John, Bret Michaels, and Howard Stern were among the many rumored contenders.)

Now things have really shaken up with DeGeneres announcing she has quit, stating that she had a hard time being hurtful to the contestants (read Ellen’s statement about leaving “American Idol” here).  I believe DeGeneres brought a bit of humor to the show, but never felt she was really in her element.  So I think this was a wise decision for her.

As for DioGuardi, she was reportedly fired as an “American Idol” judge, according to a TMZ report.

The report also states that the show will be going back to its original three-judge panel, and that the three will be Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, and Steven Tyler.

TMZ also reported that the only way DioGuardi could get a reprieve is if the J-Lo deal falls apart, but that deal is reportedly done.

So what do you think about the reported changes for “American Idol’s” panel of judges?  Did you like Ellen DeGeneres or Kara DioGuardi as judges?  Will the show be the same without Simon Cowell?  And what about the addition of Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler?  What will they bring to the show?  Share your thoughts below.

Basil Marceaux Website: Crazy Politicians at Their Finest

The Basil Marceaux website is a hot viral commodity right now.  It’s the year of the mid-term elections, so we are going to seesome crazy political antics.  The state of Tennessee is long known for their red neck status and pro-gun rhetoric, but Basil Marceaux is taking things a little far.

Marceaux is using his Internet soapbox to run for governor of the Volunteer State.  He wants every citizen to be immune from state laws, and also wants everyone to carry a gun.  Now, it doesn’t make much sense to me to make everyone immune from state laws. After all, if you did that …. would there be any laws at all? The whole thing is just confusing!

The gun thing, on the other hand, could make Marceaux popular with the second amendment right advocates.

This, along with Alvin Greene from South Carolina showcase how the Internet and constant digital media have changed the landscape of politics.  Alvin Greene is just an every day guy who somehow got on the Democratic ticket for Senator of South Carolina.  Although he has no political experience, he skyrocketed into fame and continued to run for Senator of his state.

Madden 11 Release Date & Demo – Gamers Are Excited

The Madden 11 release date and demo are important for serious gamers who want this year’s NFL update. The demo wasmade available to the masses, and instead of the typical 2-5 minutes of playtime, this year those who download the Madden 11 demo will discover that they will get 20 minutes of playtime via four 5-minute quarters. This gives users more of an idea of what the full-length game will be.

My friend joked that the only problem with the demo is that you can only choose between being the Colts or the Jets. All jokes aside, the shorter version of the game showcased crisp graphics that look so real it’s almost not even believable. I grew up on video games like Mario Brothers and Kirby, so watching games like Madden 11 really amazes me how much the gaming industry has improved over the last 15 years or so.

One thing that had many chattering about the Madden 11 video game is that it even features President Obama. Our president pops up everywhere, from The View and now in games…it’s kind of cool, actually. The game will showcase a little bit of history.

Perhaps the best thing about this version of EA Sports’ popular game is the new “Game Flow” system, which doesn’t overwhelm you with the entire playbook every down. Instead, the game is set up to give you recommendations based on your current situation. This is particularly great for people who may not be football experts but still want to play the game. In addition, it cuts the game time down in half…or at least that’s what the claims are saying. Getting through the game quicker will help people from getting a little bored.

The release date for the full Madden 11 will be August 10 in the US and August 13 in Europe. Both XBox 360 and PS3 versions will be available for purchase at that time.

Of course you will be able to find the game at retailers such as GameStop, and online.

So You Think You Can Dance Recap (SYTYCD)

The So You Think You Can Dance (SYTYCD) recap includes a routine which was choreographed by Mia, and the fact thatLauren feels much better after last week’s visit with the medics.  It’s drama as usual as the networks try to keep people interested and keep the ratings up there.

We also learned that the winner will get $250,000 and get to be in a Gatorade campaign.  Perhaps Gatorade is trying to replace Tiger Woods? Who knows.

Last night’s double elimination sent Jose and Billy home, as Lauren was under the weather and the judges went a little easier on her.

Of course there was some surprise that Lauren even made it to the bottom three.  This is the first time it has happened.  We are getting down to the wire, and it was bound to happen sooner or later.  We think she will make it at least another week or so before she really has to worry.
