Xeon Wordpress Migration

I have completed migrating TechBanyan to much powerful servers. This is part of the testing process to ensure writers can write and that the Wordpress dashboard editor is correctly visible and functioning as per the design.

I can clearly see the Visual and HTML editor page. If you have problems correctly viewing the dashboard or editor, try refreshing a few times. Closing the browser and clearing the cache also might help. If not give me a buzz and we’ll look into it.

I will further continue to test the server and see if anything breaks. If you spot any differences, good or bad, let me know.

For the record, I have gone with a web hosting company called Server Point (formerly known as A+ Hosting) and I am using their XEON servers.

As part of the upgrade, I have had to update the IP address of the site as well. This update process usually takes about 24 to 48 hrs to have the cascading effect across the world.

To enable this migration, I exported the database using PhpMyAdmin and then imported the database on the new servers. The import and export was failing initially because the internet connection at my place was not the best. I tried it like thousand times but for the life of me I couldn’t figure out why the DB export and import was getting only partially done. Eventually I decided I will spend the weekend in a library to get a handle on this thing and within first try it worked.

Apparently when migrating big databases (over 4000 posts), it is important to have excellent internet connection. Thanks to Warner Library, I was able to get my job done in the most time efficient manner. This example underscores why it is so important to have excellent infrastructure in place to facilitate and grow business.

Had I been in some other part of the world or even in the country of my birth, I am not sure if I had similar options available to me.

PS: Incidentally, the second half of the process was completed in Greenburg Public Library.

Huntsville Alabama University Shooting

Breaking news from the police radio. Three faculty members were fatally killed and about the same were wounded by a  suspect who is right now in custody. Apparently a female suspect. The incident happened on Friday at the University of Alabama-Huntsville.

Quite a shocking and gruesome incident. At this point not much is know about the shooter but I am hoping somebody from the campus or who knows the inside details would post below.

The incident took place around 4 p.m. at the Huntsville Alabama University’s Shelby Center. All the people involved in the incident were faculty members of the biology department.

Nodar Kumaritashvili Luge

Bob Celski may not have been the first one to notice that Nodar Kumaritashvili was flying off his luge but he was certainly among the first ones if not the first one to react to the situation. Bob jumped from his seat and rushed to help the Olympic Luger Nodar Kumaritashvili from his predicament.

Bob instantly saw that the snow around Nodar Kumaritashvili was turning red so he already knew it was going to be bad. Definitely bad. Danger is definitely part of this high speed sport.

The 2010 Olympic Winder Games were hit by a disaster and the games had not even officially started. The luger was practicing before the games officially began when he flew off his luge and hit a pole resulting in instant fatality.

Nodar Kumaritashvili Wiki

Nodar Kumaritashvili was a big time luger from ex Russian state of Georgia. The same Georgia which saw entrenched battles with mother Russia some time back. Nodar was declared dead from the injuries suffered.

Bob Fratta Farah Fratta and Children

This is an extremely sad and shocking tragedy concerning Bob and Farah Fratta. Back in 1994 Farah was filing for divorce proceedings against her husband Bob Fratta and he grew extremely agitated over it.

So much so that he hatched a plan to have Farah killed because if he could not have her, nobody else also should not have Farah.

Farah Baquer Fratta was described by those who knew her as a loving mom of three young children. Farah was 33 years of age when she was fatally shot after she parked her car in the garage. Neighbors in the vicinity saw the shooter run from the her home.

Bob was an employee of Public Safety in Missouri City. The city ran a dual office for police and fire department where Bob worked. Bob and Farah had three children during their years as a married couple. The name of their children were Amber, Daniel and Bradley.

Brendan Burke

Quite shocking news on Friday night when it was revealed that Brendan Burke had died in a car crash. The hockey fraternity went into a complete shock on hearing this news. Brendan Burke was only 21 years old at the time of his death.

Brendan was basically famous for being the son of Toronto Maple Leafs President. His dad also happen to be the general manager.

The incident occurred in a place called Economy, Indiana.

The cause of the accident was snow. Brendan was driving his Jeep Grand Cherokee when he lost control and slammed into another car. The details are still emerging and we will keep you updated as and when they become available.

Jay Novacek

Wife of Dallas Cowboy player Jay Novacek was found dead, according to the medical staff at the Tarrant County.

Jay Novacek’s wife name is LeAnne Novacek and she is about 45 years old. She was found dead in the morning at about 9 am.

Half an hour before she was found dead, at about 8:37 am, the police and fire department responded to a 911 call for a medical emergency. It is being speculated at this point that its a suicide.  The body of LeAnne Novacek was spotted in the bedroom according to those who reached there first.

The police have refused to provide any more details. Investigation is ongoing and autopsy would be performed coming Tuesday.
