(Pic - Proto.in session in Chennai, India)
Few days back I came across this particular group (in India) - Proto.in (www.proto.in) - which provides a platform for interaction between innovators and investors. Google takes them serious enough to be one of their major sponsors. What the group does is play a sort of match-maker between a small company and a prospective investor. Say if you are a startup which is short on monies but has a demonstrable ‘prototype’ capable of hitting pay dirt, then Proto.in is exactly what the doctor ordered.
The Young Turks Of IT Already Disillusioned

According to a recent survey, majority of young IT workers are already disillusioned with their jobs.
“Millennials — employees between the ages of 18 and 31 — represent the top challenge for IT managers, according to survey results released Thursday from Atlantic Associates, an IT staffing company”.

BSA has compiled a list of 12 companies which were caught using pirated software. In the jargon speak - “Twelve companies were fined by the Business Software Alliance last year for not playing by the rules of asset management”. (Here is the link to the site. Minions Get Ready To Battle Google’s Orkut

A new social networking site - Bigadda (www.bigadda.com) - has been getting rave reviews in the Indian media. Claims like 15 members signing up every minute to the site hoping to attract 10 million users by 2010 are doing the round.
Intrigued, I decided to check it out and see for myself what the buzz what all about. So here goes.
Tata Nano - Fizz or Fuzz

Tata’s Nano has created a lot of buzz in the international media. Ratan Tata, chairman of Tata delivered what he had promised - a car for the people at the bottom of the pyramid. Here is what BusinessWeek is saying about the car and its surrounding hoopla.

Aditya Lalla (24)
I am looking forward to OLED — organic LED displays — because they are very thin, have good contrast, better colour and saturation. The Yoggie Pico is also something I am really excited about. It’s a USB dongle, which operates on Linux OS that offloads computer security features from the computer processor. It’s a useful product can you can take it anywhere. Also, I would love to have Casio Exilim EX-F1 digital camera. It has an ultra fast image sensor and can take 60 pictures in a second.
The Google Saga

- A DT Story
In the mid or late 1980s, one of the American newsweeklies ran a cover story on the Internet. I was then living in Vienna and recall picking up a copy of the magazine from a newsstand that sold English-language periodicals and journals. I read the story more than once but could not quite understand it. It sounded more science fiction than science. How could what it described be possible, I kept wondering, which only brings home the fact, and one that we overlook, as to how new a phenomenon the Internet is. Today, we treat computers and what they do as if they had always been there.
World’s Smallest Bodybuilder, Causing Huge Stir

A tiny Indian bodybuilder who is less than 3 feet tall and deemed the world’s smallest is causing a huge stir in his hometown and gaining international recognition, according to the British press.
Aditya “Romeo” Dev of Phagwara, India, is a little person who is only 2 feet, 9 inches tall and weighs not even 20 pounds, the Daily Mail reported.
Throngs of people crowd into the local gymnasium on a daily basis to watch him work out, according to the Mail.
“I’ve been training as a bodybuilder for the last two years, and by now I think I must be the strongest dwarf in the world,” Dev, 19, told the Mail. “My size has never stopped me.”

In 2006, after months of intense exercise, the Guinness Book of World Records named Dev the smallest bodybuilder on the planet, the Telegraph reported.
In addition to his bodybuilding, Dev is also training to be a dancer, according to the Telegraph.
Unlike most little people, Dev’s body is well proportioned, according to the papers.

The pint-sized weight lifter is famous around India and a great source of pride to his parents.
“He has never been bothered at being so small. He has no inferiority complex. He is the jewel of our family,” his father told the Telegraph.
A Strong Dose Of Web 2.0 Criticism
A heavy duty criticism presented by a writer in Business Week recently.
Over to Gene Marks.
I’ve used a lot of things that don’t work as advertised. Maybe it’s me or maybe it’s bad luck. Or maybe it’s just bad stuff.
I’ve never had any success with vitamins; I still get sick just as often. Teeth-whitening products have failed me. So has the Atkins diet. Rogaine shampoo? I just grew a little peach fuzz. Using my frequent-flier miles has always been a huge frustration, except for that one time I flew to Fargo, N.D., on a Saturday night in February. Baked potato chips? They taste like wood.
