Lindsey Vonn Crashes at Giant Slalom Event

Lindsey Vonn crashes 2010 Olympics Giant Slalom

Lindsey Vonn hit a safety net after crashed

Conditions were foggy and it was snowing at the time of her crash.  While snow is conducive to skiing, a giant slalom is infused with water to create a slightly icy surface which makes skiing faster.  Vonn allowed her outside foot to slip into some softer snow and it pulled her off the track and into a safety net.

Lindsey Vonn’s crash made it so that her teammate Julia Mancuso had to climb back up to start again. She vetted her anger on Twitter and was visibly perturbed that her teammate slowed her down.

Both Vonn and Mancuso have two medals.  Vonn has a gold and a bronze and Mancuso has two silvers.

Vonn hurt her pinkie during the run, and it’s not certain at this time if she will compete in her final scheduled event on Friday.

Lindsey Vonn doesn’t have luck with the slalom this year at the Olympics.  US Ski team member Lindsey Vonn crashed today while heading down the giant slalom, ripping away hopes of a medal for her and probably also her teammate Julia Mancuso.  Mancuso is the defending champion of the GS event.
