Vancouver was witness to the first gold for the United States earlier today. American player Hannah Kearney went head to head against Canadian Jennifer Heil and battled it out for the top spot in the women’s moguls. It was a spectacular display of skill from both the ladies; had Heil won, she would have been marked down in history as the first Canadian to take gold at home base.
Kearney squashed her opponent by ensuring a 0.94 margin between the scores by reigning in a total of 26.63 points. She previously came into focus at the Turin Olympics where much was expected of the lady who sadly only managed to take in the 22nd spot. Four years later she’s conquered the top spot.
Shannon Bahrke is another name from the United States that managed to land herself in the last of the top three spots by taking home the bronze. She’s previously known for her 2002 silver medal.
