Fans of the CBS sitcom “How I Met Your Mother” had a special treat to see their beloved Barney Stinson featured in a Super Bowl XLIV commercial on Sunday night, but there is apparently more in store for Monday night’s episode.
Actor Neil Patrick Harris, who plays ladies-man Barney on the show, held up a sign (playing on the CBS acronym) that read “HEY LADIES, CALL BARNEY STINSON” in a scene that looked like he was a fan in the crowd at the real Super Bowl. The sign also featured a phone number, 1-877-987-6401, which reportedly gave the following message for fans who called:
That, Lebron, is how you shoot a free throw. Hey, Barney Stinson speaking. A recording? No, this is really me! Anyway, glad you called ’cause you sound really special. Let’s get to know each other. What are your hobbies? Oh my god, I like that too! Wow, I’m really feeling a connection here. You know, I never do this but what the heck. Let’s meet up at MacLaren’s Bar at oh, say, 3:45 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 12, 2016. I can’t wait to meet you. I love you.
The number had a busy signal on Monday.
There is supposed to be a follow-up to this commercial during Monday night’s episode of “How I Met Your Mother.” So as Barney would say, “suit up” fans for some more Super Bowl fun.
“How I Met Your Mother” airs Monday nights at 8 p.m. (ET) on CBS.
