He isnt gay. Just for the record. We are close friends, and he is about the sweetest guy in the world. I though he was gay initially as well, but im sorry to all those hoping he is. He isnt. Wonderful athlete and even better friend.

I completely understand how you feel. And I’m sorry that people are to ignorant to show any respect.

-I was in the junior olympic circuit for 4 years, and I came out after I had stopped diving. the thought that people around the world will still support him under either situation, is true. I am personally offend when I see these types of articles about people. There is no importance to it, he would still be the same person, as well as the same athlete if he were gay or straight. people need to learn to not be so judgemental. This in turn will hopefully teach them how to show a little respect also.

Thomas has a large family and I assure you that if he is gay we would still support him as we do with all of our family members. Thomas is a relative of mine and I think it is appauling that you have nothing better to do than try to ruin someones image or start rumors. grow up and concentrate on your own issues.

It really isn’t that important if he is g0y or not but, it can be a heavy burden having a “secret” like that while trying to perform under the publics watchful eye; your nervous, wondering if people see or know your secret. Is there something about you that suggests it? There are many views around subjects like this that can really distract you. Not that the public would truly care (accept maybe a hand full of jerks), it would enable the performer to focus on what has to be done, not worry about the cute walk or, s0xy voice but, be able to perform without any of this becoming a distraction.

I think he’s g0y but, for a straight guy I also think he’s pretty cute! Who cares! When he’s up on that board, he can strut it, shake it, rub it or, do what ever it takes to get him up in the air, keeping good verticle and landing the dive! My cheers is with him that he and Bodiva can do that during the next Olympics…if so, I might toss him a kiss myself!.. Go Finchum! Go America!

Meredith what do you mean “You guys are just trying to find something wrong with him because you are jealous of his amazing skils.”? Are you saying there’s something “wrong” with being gay?!?! I can’t believe the number of people who are “defending” Thomas from these speculations – as if it is a horrible thing to be accused of. I wonder if someone asked “do you think Thomas is right-handed” if the same people would jump on and say “why does it matter if he’s right-handed?!!! He’s a great diver!!” If not, what does that say about your opinion of gay people?

Since there’s absolutely nothing wrong with being gay – it’s a rather innocuous question, don’t you think? Personally, I think he is. And I suspect he’s left-handed.

I met him in the airport about 2 weeks before he went to China. Up close he looks like likes he’s fourteen year old and he seems to be very sweetly shy. He is extremely cute. He may not be effeminate as much as maybe slightly immature. I wonder if it could be the home schooling and depriving him of a normal interaction with kids his own age. His Mom was handling all of his ticketing paperwork like he was just a kid.

No offence, but you guys are very biased! Just because he seems gay/looks gay or acts gay doesn’t mean he is! For example, tons of koreans guys around where I live look gay (to american standards). Look feminine, act feminine, but believe it or not, they are not gay!

I do not believe Tom to be gay.

I believe he has been involved in some extraordinarily physical training over several years and that may have delayed his puberty.

The newspapers have all reported that he grew a half a foot taller in a short amount of time. Perhaps the rest of him needs to catch up.

btw… LuHi is a wonderful High School.
