Actor George Clooney is organizing a telethon, “Hope for Haiti,” to raise funds for organizations working to help the victims of Tuesdayâ€™s earthquake in Haiti.
“Hope for Haiti” will air on January 22 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. (ET) on major networks including ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, CNN, BET, the CW network, HBO, MTV, VH1, and CMT.Â The telethon will reportedly air without commercial interruption.
Clooney will co-produce the telethon and host from Los Angeles.Â Musician Wyclef Jean, who has been raising money with his Yele Haiti Foundation, will join Clooney as a host from New York City, and CNN anchor Anderson Cooper will host from Haiti.
All funds raised will be split evenly between five major organizations that have been working to help victims of the earthquake in Haiti: Oxfam America, Partners in Health, the Red Cross, UNICEF, and Wyclefâ€™s Yele Haiti Foundation.
Celebrity appearances and musical guests are still being organized for the event.
