It may come back to haunt the person. I know an american soldier who posted his opinion on presidential front runners but later on started deleting his posts and even deleted his profile and came back with a new one which was slightly anonymous. He realized since one of the front runners could one day be the Commander in Chief, the posted material could be used against him. Yes, one has to careful about what kind of information one shares on the internet. It may come back to haunt the person.
