India’s Olympic Entrance

A shabby and totally disoriented Indian contingent made an entrance at the Beijing Olympics. The shooters are already out of the medal race and I personally do not have any hopes from Sania Mirza.

I do not understand why there is so much importance given to her when all she needs to do now is perfect her art more than fashion. Hopes now are on the rowers and the swimmer Sandeep Sejwal. Saina Nehwal and Anup Sridhar in the second round in badminton.

Mangal Singh Champia producing a stand-out performance and the women’s team entering the quarterfinals while ace shooters misfired as India began their Olympics campaign on a mixed note in Beijing on Saturday.

But India’s Sandip Sejwal failed to qualify in the heats of men’s 100 meters breaststroke in the swimming competition and the emerging swimmer Khade failed to qualify for the 200 m.

Indian rower Bajranglal Takhar has qualified for the men’s single sculls quarter-finals. Boxer Vijender Kumar advanced to the second round of boxing competition at the Beijing Olympic Games but Dinesh Kumar bowed out after losing the men’s light-heavy (81-kg) opening round bout. So a mixed bag for the Indians.
