Urban Meyer Brain Tumor A Reason for Florida Coach Stepping Down?

Urban Meyer brain tumor talk is the buzz of the Internet.  Urban Meyer, head coach of the Florida Gators abruptly stepped down from his post as head coach amidst a flurry of speculation about his declining health.

While at Notre Dame, Urban Meyer was diagnosed with a brain cyst.  This cyst is said to act up under stress and being the head coach – and one of the most highly paid ones at that – is very stressful.

The Florida football program is losing a lot next year.  Both Tim Tebow and Urban Meyer are leaving, and there’s a lot of speculation on how these losses will affect next year’s season.

It has been said that those that are close to the coach know that his health has been deteriorating.  A coach of a rival team even indicated that he didn’t recognize him when he saw him at a stadium.

Meyer has said:

I have given my heart and soul to coaching college football and mentoring young men for the last 24-plus years and I have dedicated most of my waking moments the last five years to the Gator football program,” Meyer said in statement released by the university. “I have ignored my health for years, but recent developments have forced me to re-evaluate my priorities of faith and family

And also

After consulting with my family, Dr. Machen, Jeremy Foley and my doctors, I believe it is in my best interest to step aside and focus on my health and family.

At this time, there’s no confirmation that Urban Meyer has a brain tumor.
