Mike Holmgren Browns: Holmgren Agreement with Cleveland

Mike Holmgren Browns – Mike Holmgrem has agreed to become the team President of the Cleveland Browns.  Owner Randy Lerner has announced “We are pleased to announce that Mike Holmgren has agreed to join the Cleveland Browns, we will spend the rest of the week finalizing the details of the agreement.”

The stint at the Cleveland Browns won’t be Holmgren’s first foray in to the world of professional football.  Holmgren formerly coached the Seattle Seahawks and the Green Bay Packers.  He took the Packers to the Super Bowl twice, winning in 1997.  He also took the Seahawks to the Super Bowl in 2006, but they lost.

The Browns are currently 3-11 under a semi-new coach, Eric Mangini.  What Mangini’s fate will be is still uncertain at this time.  Although it looks like it could be that Mangini will be given more time.  Many industry experts don’t think it’s right to let a coach go after one year – but we will see.

Holmgren has said that he is attracted to the stint at the Cleveland Browns because there aren’t many layers between him and the team owner.
