NFL player Chris Henry died on Thursday after falling from a moving pickup truck, according to police.
Henry, 26, a receiver for the Cincinnati Bengals, fell from a moving truck on Wednesday in Charlotte, N.C., People reported.Â He had apparently been in an argument with his fiancÃ©e when she drove away in a pickup truck, but he jumped into the bed of the truck and fell out about a half-mile away.
Authorities described Henry’s injuries Wednesday night as “life-threatening,” CNN reported.Â He died at 6:36 a.m. ET Thursday, according to a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police news release.
Â “Chris Henry died as a result of his injuries sustained during this incident,” the police said in the news release. “Department detectives continue to work diligently on this active investigation.”Â
Police said homicide detectives were assigned to the case, but no charges were filed.
Henry and his fiancÃ©e, Loleini Tonga, have three children and had planned to be married in March, according to the Bengals.
