Carrie Prejean’s Sex Tape Triggers Settlement

Carrie Prejean an American model took part in a beauty pageant and was crowned Miss California USA 2009.  This Pageant could have ended up like all other normal beauty pageants. But a chanced question about same-sex marriage, and Prejeans response to it, changed the whole scenario.

During the Miss USA 2009 pageant, one of the judges, Perez Hilton, asked her views on whether every US state should legalize same-sex marriage, her answer to which was,

“Well I think it’s great that Americans are able to choose one way or the other. We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage. And, you know what, in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman, no offense to anybody out there. But that’s how I was raised and I believe that it should be between a man and a woman.”

This also could have passed of as a decent answer as the owner of Miss Universe Organisation Donald Trump puts it, “Miss California has done a wonderful job” and that “It wasn’t a bad answer that was simply her belief.”

But Perez Hilton’s vedio blog in which he called Prejean a “dumb Bitch” condemning her reply as “the worst in pageant history” drew the immediate attention of the media.

He told ABC News her answer cost her the crown, stating that “There are various other ways she could have answered that question and still stayed true to herself without alienating millions of people.”

The controversy further deepened when a partially nude photograph of Prejean on a celebrity gossip blog, led the directors of the contest to investigate her, for a breach in the contract clause which clearly stated that “no nude or partially nude” photographs of the contestants should be published anywhere. Prejean tried explaining that those were earlier photographs.

The pageant administration terminated her contract on June 10th 2009. She was ripped of her title.

Prejean, filed a suit of defamation against the Pageant officials for releasing her private medical reports, to which the officials sued her back asking her to pay for all the expenses borne by them while grooming her for the pageant.

As reported by CNN, a video tape featuring Prejean, “too racy” to be posted on a celebrity side appeared, creating ripples, soon after which Prejean unconditionally took back all her allegations.
