The 16th Golden Elephant International Childrenâ€™s Film Festival promises much more than a wonderful celluloid experience to all the special child delegates attending this function which will commence in Hyderabad from the 14th of November.
This week long programme which is being sponsored by The Childrenâ€™s Film Society of India (CSFI) will screen some of the landmarks of childrenâ€™s films from all over the world at the 6 top theatres of Hyderabad along with IMAX.
The festival which will be inaugurated at the LalitakalaThoranum, will be a unique experience for all those who are a part of it.
There shall be workshops, forums, interaction with experts who will teach the young ones the nuances of story telling, animation and the art of reporting.
This festival is marked with a difference as there shall be special screenings for the visually blind children with expert translators to assist them.
Besides the 15 International and 18 Asian films which will be screened at the competitive level will have children on the panel of jury along with other experts.
The chairperson of CSFI Nandita Das said, â€œ I will try to include quality movies to make the festival more attractive. With reality shows attracting the eyeballs, it is certainly a big challenge to attract children to the film festival.â€
She also said at a press conference in Delhi “This festival is much more than just films. Through this we are taking up children’s issues and sensitizing parents and other stakeholders in an entertaining manner.”
Around 60 films in the 3 different categories of Asian Panorama, Childrenâ€™s World and International competition, are scheduled to be showcased during this festival.
With stalwarts like Gulzar and other eminent film personalities participating, this will be an event to be remembered for years to come.
