At what point do we stop giving a pass to religion? Regardless of whether this was an act of Jihad or a reaction to harassment of the Muslim faith, the core motivation arose from deference to religion. Religion, by its very nature is polarizing and makes its adherents intolerant of other religions and especially those who have no religious affiliation. Given this basic trait, it is not surprising that he would feel harassed for belonging to a religion that some of its members use to justify the killing of others in the name of their god. The real problem here is that religion poisons society. Its time we abandon our superstitions and bronze-age myths, otherwise our species is doomed.
