First things first, I am not a Farmville player. But not just that, I don’t even understand what the craze is about. In the interest of full disclosure, I don’t even log on Facebook. I think its another utility to waste your time in this day and age of information overload.
But sometime back I heard people in India were protesting about the non-option of flag. Over lunch I mentioned it to a buddy and he told me his mom loves playing this game on Facebook.
Ok so the craze is for real.
But these days the chatter is about something else regarding this facebook application. A mystery box and crops on FarmVille were fertilized by a friend. What does this mean? To me it sounds like a no big deal.
The “fertilized by a friend” feature is a new tool that some friends got which in turn they could gift to their farmville friends. Apparently the players are quite excited about it and worked up. What happened to Organic option?
The funny part is even though the friends are getting the “Farmville Fertilized By Friend” option, nobody knows how to go ahead and use that option. At least not that I know anybody of.

The Fertilizing Friend option is now officially up and running today. Everyone wasn’t sure about the option but now when helping out a friend’s farm it has been the only option today. It has been awarding people a bag of fertilizer to help out your friend’s crops. Hoping that you neighbours/friends will return the favour back to you. I started Farmville 7 days ago and it’s crazy addicting. Just when you think ahh this is useless they add another level or another product to harvest. It’s crazy.

I found out how it works!
1. Visit one of your neighbors’ farm on FarmVille and help them scare away crows, gophers etc.
2. If you are lucky, you will get RANDOMLY picked by FarmVille and receive five bags of fertilizer. Note the fact that it’s all RANDOM and you might help 20 neighbors without getting the bags, or you could help one and get them.
3. You will know if you got the five bags of FarmVille fertilizer if a small white and blue bag appears at the bottom left side of the FarmVille window, having the “x5” sign near it.
4. If that appears, you can now use it on your neighbors’ crops to fertilize them. Simply click on their crops and you’ll fertilize them (the crops will sparkle once fertilized).

I can understand why you might feel that way about Farmville. I myself find facebook to be a general waste of time that I could be using to make Tesla coils or studying medicine. Initially I only started Farmville because my girlfriend enjoyed it and I thought it would be fun to play the same game she was.
Its more fun than you might expect. It lets you lay out a farm and be creative. I rather enjoy sharing a little of my love of design with my friends. They can all come visit my farm and see how I like to landscape. It gave me a few cute ways to interact with my girlfriend. Best of all, unless you are “crazy” – it is free. So just enjoy it in moderation. It can be a little social activity and let you plan out a little farm.
Thanks, Karina. You gave a clear, understandable explanation of how one gets the fertilizer. I looked everywhere I could think of, but no answer to the question. One would think there would be a clue sosmewhere. I suspected it had to come up as an aditional option to scaring the crows away or raking the leaves, etc.; but now I know I won’t be expecting that. Instead I’ll be looking for the “magic” white and blue bag with the x5. Thanks for sharing your find!

My crops were “fertilized” and im not getting any coins for them? my “friends” just jacked like 2000 coins
You always get the 5 bags. THe only time you don’t is when there are no patches of fertilizable plants (ie. harvestable plants, about to be harvestable plants, fallow land), other than that you ALWAYS get the 5 bags.
