This comment by “J” toward Jessica is simple ignorance at its best. I had no idea and as of this moment typing this still do not know what race the homeowners are. I can guess they r not white based on your comment. I guess only blacks can buy cars , cloths and frivolous stuff. As soon as Jessica typed that statement about blowing the borrowed money I thought “well, guilty as charged here”. Meaning I know I did the same thing. I borrowed a bunch of money on equity in my home , justified it with home improvement or business expansion but really just lived off the loan . I bought cars, cloths and lots of frivolous stuff. I re-payed the loan with the loan proceeds till it ate itself up. I was able to save my home with help of relative the day b4 the auction. Then I sold it. But I am white, and it is common for those who have been living on a modest income all their lives then come into a lump sum of cash to buy nice things and the huge pile of cash seems to not go down much. Examples include all races of athletes signing that first contract, lottery winners, people who win a new house on a reality show ,those who inherit it and those who can get a kind appraisal on their home and barrow a lot of money. What a thoughtless comment by J. How ridiculous. If you are black J I can understand it as the black community is indulging like never before in victim status calling foul over ever little thing that is valid or not (this is not). And if you are white shame on you, do not insult the black race as incompetent and needing intellectual handicap status. Good grief how ridiculous. And if this post is deleted then that is a banner of how compounded the problem is.

ok so now that its all said and done, does anyone know where i can find the realtor for the home now that they no longer own it? it is a great house and would love to check it out.When i saw the episode i immediatly fell in love with it and now its up for grabs! my boyfriend and i are taking a turn in our life and are looking for a home together. This is around our price range so if someone could help me this would be greatly appreciated. Also where is it located?

These are very unfortunate circumstances. This family made a poor decision. They were not equipped to handle this type of home or cash flow. It doesn’t matter their color, because it could have happened to anyone. I do feel that they took advantage of a situation and ended up right back where they started. Those funds were meant to help them to maintain the home and they squandered it. What I fail to realize is why the mother decided to stay at home. She needed to get out to hustle to make things meet, at the end of the day. Again its sad and I’m sure they are embarassed and humiliated. I know I would be. You live and learn. All of the ignorant racist comments just show your intelligence or lack thereof.

Look people any race can lose their home. It is all about the poor choices people make in life that make any of us fall back or lose things. It has nothing at all to do with color. It is ignorant how all of these people say racist stuff about blacks. It is just plain out wrong. There are and have always been intelligent blacks who have invented things that we all need and use on a daily basis. Blacks have done many useful things for the society. Haven’t you ever heard of George Washington Carver or Martin Luther King Jr.? These were both intelligent individuals and black men. You better cut these people some slack and know that all humans of all colors and ethnicities have faults and errors. So, just realize that all humans are capable of messing up and this incident which occured with the Harper family is not about color. You need to research on the internet; you would truly bite your tongues afer you have read about all of the interesting facts about blacks and what they have done positive in the world. Also, if you fear God then you would never be racist! If you are racist, then you do not fear God! God created all of us to be treated as equals!

What part of the house being foreclosed has to do with race?
I believe it is happeing to a lot of people now in the US! The Harpers made a BAD decision and I am sure that all of that money didn’t go into a business but made them feel better about lying to everyone. Maybe next time Extreme Makeover will do a better job of screening the canidates!!

In a day when we are on the verge of some historical events leading to a person of beautiful brown color, I am saddened to read the racist remarks directed towards us. We didn’t ask to be A color so don’t hate on us because we are one. GOD took the same sands to make a white white that s/he did to make a black black. White people, don’t get it twisted you have some black in your linage whether you like it or not. I ask, when Obama wins the Presidential election are you going to pack your bags and move or will you be white man/woman enough to deal with it?

As for the Harper’s, I’m not feeling sorry for the parents but I do feel for the children. They have to deal with something they can’t understand for a very long time. Other children will not be nice to them. Parents can sustain, kids sometimes never recover.

Sad….. just plain sad. First, the Harpers using the money meant to pay the taxes on the house for 25 years! God only knows what they used it for. In the end, who cares? They misused it….. plain & simple and now they will pay the piper. Then the racism on this blog….. It’s appalling and I’m embarrassed for my fellow countrymen! In this day & age we still have yet to learn tolerance & acceptance. Sad…… just plain sad.
