You know Indian Americans are becoming more and more mainstream when they start getting into people’s cross hairs. On the one hand you’d be happy about it but on the other if you heard the reason you wouldn’t know what to make of it. Last time an Indian created this much buzz was during the spelling bee.
Anyway call it the Glenn Beck phenomenon but anything he touches or talks about creates an instant chatter among his followers. Personally, I think Glenn Beck is the Jerry Springer of Political arena. He is a clown albeit an immensely successful clown. No matter what sane Dems and Reps may say but at the end of the day, all said and done, Glenn is not only getting the TV ratings, gracing the cover of Time, leading a crazed bunch who follow his every command, becoming a best seller of two books…phew!
So in today’s Glenn Beck show, Glenn happen to grind his axe on a certain individual by the name of Deepak Bhargava. Deepak apparently is the Executive Director of Center for Community Change. CCC is a mainstream nonprofit organization whose mission is to develop the power and capacity of low-income people, especially low-income people of color.
Is there some sort of a pattern emerging? Why is Glenn not going after those top notch corporates in Banking, Health, Insurance, Automobile who have the economy by its cojones. Instead he is concentrating on the cheapest, powerless, innocuous bunch who just want some breathing space. This is the easiest bunch to go after, being defenseless and all.
Deepak Bhargava Bio and Wiki
Deepak was born in Bangalore, India. He migrated to United States when he was a child and spend his growing up years in New York City. Deepak’s career highlight came when he got admitted to Harvard and then graduated summa cum laude from the prestigious university. At present, Deepak lives in D.C with his partner Harry Hanbury, who is a documentary filmmaker.
Yeah right, Glenn, go after those who are fighting for the down trodden. Glenn appears racist so I would like to see Glenn go after some WASP. Only then we would label Glenn as an equal opportunity clown.
More on Glenn Beck:

You are so off base with this guy. Don’t you see what he’s trying to do? Pay more attention to Glenn Beck and follow up with your own research and see where the truth really lies. You seem happy to be deceived by ACORN and others who are only getting rich off your stupidity. How much money do you really think will come your way? How much do you want? How hard are you willing to work and educate yourself to make it happen? You blame the Becks and Hannitys as you blindly follow those who would enslave you by making you dependent on them for everything you need in life. You won’t care what I have to say. Your minds are made up. All I’m asking you to do is think this through. Use a little common sense. Don’t let yourselves be used by those who seek to totally control you.
Did anyone anticipate the rise and rise of Beck? Suddenly Fox TV from being Bush’s apologists makes for compelling viewing. Beck is so effective, you can almost believe that redistribution of wealth is an evil concept. An academic presentation of how a crisis helps in the transformation of an economy suddenly sounds like a full-blown conspiracy. Beck would have us believe that the economic crises was created by the likes of Bhargava. How would you advise Obama to counter this? Unlike Bush, since Obama is articulate, he could debate Beck on the issues – but would that be giving Beck too much importance? What is assured is that everything Obama does will be packaged Beck-style for his growing audience – Reagan (the president who could not remember long sentences and difficult Harvardish words) is the messiah.
When someone says so-and-so “appears racist” that tells you pretty much everything you need to know about the speaker.
“so I would like to see Glenn go after some WASP”
-Okay. How about Cass Sunstein? How about Dale and Wade Rathke? How about Ken Jennings? Do you even know who these people are? No, of course not. That would require you to think a bit. I’ll give you a hint though: none of them are men of color.
Glenn Beck may very well be a deranged clown. I’m not his supporter, but the one thing I know for sure after reading your missive is that you’re in no position to judge.
