movie making skills, got a real touch of his own movie plots when he was busted in Switzerland this weekend for an outstanding arrest warrant issued in US.
The warrant was issued back in the day in 1978 when Roman Polanski was riding the crest of high wave of his movie directing career. Perhaps that gave him the fool’s mirage of doing anything he wants and getting away with it.
Samantha Geimer was then 13 year old. According to the warrant Roman Polanski was responsible for giving her drugs and then indulging in under age cavernous relations with her. During the trial Roman fled US for countries which do not have an extradition treaty with US. France for one.
I am surprised the case was allowed to linger for so long for such a famous personality like Roman Polanski. He should have been hunted down and brought back home to justice to give a perception that law is not only paramount but seen to be paramount.
Eventually Roman Polanski was arrested when he landed in Zurich to receive an award for lifetime achievement in Film Making.

On Sept 26, Polanski was arrested at the Zurich airport on his way to receive a lifetime achievement award at the Zurich Film Festival. The Swiss Justice Ministry has reportedly confirmed Polanski will be forced to return to the U.S. Polanski’s victim, Samantha Geimer sued the Oscar-winning director in civil court and received an undisclosed settlement amount. She has asked for the criminal case against Polanski to be dismissed.
This is indeed quite interesting. After taking the money and riches, she wants the case to be dismissed. Since Samantha Geimer is an adult now and if this is what she wants, do you think US tax payer money can be put to better use than doing something which she is against. Considering she was the victim.
Yes he should go before the United States Legal System. He broke a law with a 13 year old girl. The fact that she is an adult now is irrevelent. This is how pedophiles get away with sexually abusing children. Justice needs to be served.
What if the girl from California, Jaycee who is 28, and was kidnapped for about 11 years, decides that she doesn’t want to send the father of her two daughters to jail. A law was broken. Justice must be served.
Check your facts. Samantha Geimer reportedly received 127,000 GBP in a private settlement from Roman Polansky. That’s not “money and riches”. Read her testimony from the trial. She simply seems to have a docile disposition. She stated in a recent letter to the court that the ongoing publicity further traumatizes her, which seems plausible. She also stated (in reference to Polansky’s film, The Piano, having been nominated for Academy Awards) that many people had worked on the film in addition to Polansky and that it should be judged on its own merit. Geimer doesn’t deserve criticism for voicing her opinion on Polansky’s crime, and the claim that she has been monetarily influenced is unsubstantiated.
