I am an advocate of well regulated hunting. Game hunting is a popular American activity and I believe controlled and regulated hunting is actually good for conservation and preservation of otherwise endangered species.
Initially the idea may sound contrary to popular belief of banning hunting to help the animals from extinction but it has been found that when hunting is legalized, it actually leads to more numbers and better preservation of a species because now they have a value on their head.
Otherwise if you simply ban it, then poachers still continue to hunt and since there is no regulation, it leads to fall in the animal census. This has been witness in India and Africa which is home to many wild animals.
Coming back to Black Canyon Bulls, Colorado has this place which is quite popular as a hunting getaway. Besides the prized bulls, you have Elk, Bison etc. and other assortment of animals that you can prowl on and hunt.
