Keeping Google Gods Happy

You don’t have to sacrifice bulls here to keep Google happy but it is extremely essential for you as a webmaster to ensure you share a healthy relationship with Search Engines like Google, Yahoo, MSN, Alta Vista etc.

However Google is a cut above the rest because almost 70 to 80 percent of the world uses Google to extract information from the web. [The percentage is not backed by any source but just to give you an idea of the importance of Google].

At some point after you have blogged for quite a while, there would be certain posts [ or a single post] which would draw heavy traffic from a particular search engine but after a while the traffic may drop.

This might lead you to believe that you have been penalized. Or for whatever reason if you want to check whether you have been penalized by the search engine, then what is the best way to do it.

Google recommends the following test to find out if you been hit with a penalty.

Open the search engine home page and enter your complete url in the search box. Hit the button and see where your site is ranked in the results.

If its not coming on top, then its definitely a reason for concern and would need further investigation.

You might have to do a bit of a research and find out why you have been penalized. To resolve the issue, you will have to proceed with a “Request for Reconsideration” to Google and pray they act in a timely manner.
