Guess what? I could never come around to it but a Santa Barbara jury today gave a verdict that many of us would not have concieved ourselves. The Jesse James Hollywood verdict is that the jury found him guilty of first-degree snuffing out life and kidnapping for ordering the snuffing out of Nicholas Markowitz.
The jury in Santa Barbara concluded that Hollywood was the group leader of a group of mostly young teens suburban narcotics users who, when trying to collect a $1,200 debt from Ben Markowitz, kidnapped and later expired his younger stepbrother, Nicholas.
After holding the 15-year-old for a few days, Jesse James Hollywood decided he didn’t want to face charges related to the kidnapping; and he began to envision a plan in which he’d never be found, Nicholas was walked into a park, shot and buried.
Jesse James Hollywood himself was absent from the scene when the incident took place.
If the tragic saga sounds similar, that’s because it was the plot for the 2006 film “Alpha Dog”. This film stars Emile Hirsch as the Hollywood-esque character and Justin Timberlake in the leas roles.

You have to live in the area to know the whole story. The movie or news accounts do not begin to cover the problems that Jesse James Hollywood caused. The once peaceful community had been turned upside down by this freak, his family and his boy toys. Oh and the drugs they refer to as marijuana was none other than meth. Less prison time and criticism if it’s weed.

I am horrified by the guilty verdict. After living in Santa Barbara and following the trial closely, I do not believe the prosecution proved beyond a reasonable doubt that Mr. Hollywood was the “mastermind” behind the murder of Nick Markowitz. It is upsetting that the jury was swayed by the media and pre-conceived notions. It is a sad day for the criminal justice system.

They were also reading the papers & speaking to people out side of the jury. one of the jurors knew one of the kids that was at the lemon tree partying with them. Jesse James Hollywood is innocent. The media and police “made up” a story and the media convicted him. The trial did not prove any guilt whatsoever. The jury misconduct was evident. The police harassed his family and friends for years. Ben Markowitz has made death threats against him and his family. The police are still harassing anyone who did not fit in with their scenario. I know this first-hand. They are the real bullies and thugs. The “shooter” was brought to the Santa Barbara jail to testify, but the prosecution didn’t call him because they knew he would say he acted alone. And to address a previous comment, any decent parent would not put a young kid to death. Jesse was only behaving like any scared child that was being threatened and harassed by the police when he fled.

I did not watch alpha dog but i did watch the trial and they did present more than enough evidence.
