The best thing I like about this country is no matter how big or small you are, if you are in public and create a nuisance, you can readily be arrested.
This is unlike a lot of countries in the world where people of power, especially those in politics, are head and shoulders above regular folks when it comes to law enforcement.
The example I would like to quote to reinforce my case is that of Marion Berry. Marion is a D.C council member and he was arrested recently for stalking a women. The women was driving a car and Marion Berry, according to preliminary details made public, was tailing her in his car.
The woman got annoyed with this and reported the incident to a trooper who stopped Marion, interviewed him, and then booked him on charges of stalking.
The fact that law is not only paramount for all, but is seen to be paramount with such examples makes it very good. The perception is sometimes more or less equally important than the reality.
If you recall some time back there was a senator who was arrested for soliciting a cop in a public restroom. I am not sure what are Marion Berry’s political inclinations but the fact of the matter is, bad apples exists in both sides of the American political spectrum.
