Right now this cat Kevin Skinner is getting a lot of buzz on the internet and I am going to update this page as soon as I come across some relevant info.
But so far, the only dirt I can get on him is that he is a convicted felon and he insists that he sold the white powder to singer Whitney Houston. But this is from way back in 2003 and it could be some other Kevin Skinner.
PS: You guys need to realize not everybody watches AGT and then when suddenly people want info, you muster up all resources to find out more about that fellow. I hear ya all below and I have made updates to this page. Thanks for the correction.
Other than that, there is the recent showing of America’s Got Talent in which farmer Kevin Skinner makes people laugh during his introductions. Looks like he is dazzling all the folks with his moves, including his voice.
If you know more about Kevin Skinner add to the information below and keep the knowledge flow going.

The Kevin Skinner you are referring to in connection with Whitney Houston is a former business partner of Whitney’s father, not the guy from AGT. He’s also black. The guy on AGT is a white guy who plays guitar and is from Kentucky. It’s not that difficult to figure out that they aren’t the same person.
Thank you Leah,
We followed Kevin all the way through the competition, I’m glad you stepped up with info proving the gossip about him untrue. I never would have believed that untrue story anyway.
“Looks like he is dazzling all the folks with his moves, including his voice.” What moves? He sits in a chair… And, uh yeah, Kevin Skinner/Whitney Houston – that’s WAY old news, not the same person at all, LOL. If you do a Google search, there’s lots of Kevin Skinners of various professions. Not sure why you’d only link his name to a convict/drug dealer, especially since most of the articles actually mention that the other Kevin Skinner was a partner in John Houston’s Entertainment company. If they were the same person, I highly doubt he’d need a TV talent show to get a record deal, since he’s a former manager himself, LOL. Judging by the way the Kevin Skinner on America’s Got Talent speaks, it is pretty obvious that he’s no manager for an entertainment company, hahahaha. He’s got a good voice though, even if I don’t care for country music.
Kevin Skinner was wonderful tonight on AGT. Hope we hear lots more from him.
Looks like the original writer of this blog, Troy, doesn’t know what defamation of character is. If you are going to blog about it online, at least make sure it is accurate.
This guy can sing! I’m not a country music fan, but here is a guy who can make anyone want to run out and buy a Garth Brooks CD. In fact, I’ve haven’t heard G.B.’s rendition of this song, but am willing to bet it won’t match up to Kevin’s. He gets my vote as the best artist/contestant on AGT to date! This guy is a real as they come!
GB’s version sure ain’t as heartfelt as Kevin’s that’s for sure
I know this man personally and he mould never do this!!!!!!! Does he even look like someone that would konw Whitney Houston????All he is is raw talent!!
Do you really know him? I melted after 5 strings of his guitar.Wish
we all had his e-mail address if he has one.
I grew up 3 minutes from Kevin in Fancy Farm, KY. Yeah, it’s a real town, mapquest it. Anyway, I really don’t think he has anything to worry about, just wait until you hear some of his original music. He and my brother used to play together in a local talent show, it was more of a bluegrass venue and the host usually dissed Kevin, even tho he covered Keith Whitley perfectly, I guess he’s eating his words now…
Chris: In response to your July 28 comments, I am absolutely thrilled that Kevin can cover Keith Whitley perfectly! I would love to hear him sing “Kentucky Bluebird” on his first CD. Any chance Kevin will regroup with his former (or current) band members? Can you think of another country singer who has the ability to sell a song like Kevin? Even Garth, who wrote “If Tomorrow Never Comes”, dashes through it as if the words don’t matter.
When I saw this young man come out on the America’s Got Talent stage without any pretense, I felt bad that the audience immediately thought he was putting them on. I guess growing up poor and having to work at odd jobs I am able to spot the real deal when I see it. And, Kevin is the real deal.
I sat in silence and just cried when I heard him sing. It wasn’t so much the song, but how he sang from the heart with feelings that made the song so special.
God bless Kevin, and I hope someone signs him to a recording contract whether he wins AGT or not. I would buy his CDs just to hear his voice. Very melodic, very honest.
Thanks, MsstAnn and Chris, for stepping up to the plate and defending Kevin! It’s perfectly clear from the get go that he’s a great guy. Only a moron would think otherwise! He’s an example of a true gentle man! I wish there were more like him instead of the idiots who think they have to be bullies and push everyone around! Shame on anyone who would take pleasure in publishing crap about him and have so little insight they think they must be right! Go, Kevin, go! You deserve every kindness and respect available!
Kevin skinner was amazing! Perfect example of how society judges someone and then is blown away by a performance such as this and is left with a spur taste in their mouth. And what is it with the moron trying to give this man a bad name! Do ur homework and educate urself before opening ur mouth wit shaky information about other people and trying to connect it to someone u could only hope to be like! I will vote him on every chance I get!
What a talent…they looked at him like they did Susan Boyle and he fooled them….He needs some polishing but he is a diamond in the rough…lol Kevin
Tell you what this is right here…a true hillbilly showin his heart. Nothin wrong with that. Like the British guy said, Kevin could win this competition. I’m rootin fer him, that’s fer sure.
Very well put johnny!!!
I just listen to Garth Brooks’ version of this song…
Kevin Skinner performance is better, so much better that Garth.
I hope he surrounds himself with good people.
His future is bright.
I am not a country music fan but Kevin Skinner flat out blew me away. I love people that are real and I wish him nothing but success. Can’t wait to hear him again.
I’m embarassed to have stumbled across this website. It seems like you just Google’d this guy, accumulated as much info as you thought fit, and then posted a blog about your results. Being one of current top hits under this man’s name can seriously damage Kevin Skinners reputation. Imagine how many non-tech-saavy individuals are Googling him, only to come across this… trash. This is exactly what this article is. At least TMZ puts effort into their garbage-collecting.
For your reputation as a blogger, please at least input your sources. And for respect of Kevin Skinner, point out that you’re an ass.
Wow. Thats all I can say! This guy is potentially the most surprising person I’ve seen on America’s Got Talent. I’m by no means a country music fan, I must admit, but WOW. His performance was truly noteworthy. I wouldn’t be surprised if his phone is ringing as we speak with possible record deals just off this one gig. He got my vote.
Kevin Skinner will WIN agt ! I cant believe he doesnt have his own web site. I am in complete LUST. Kevin is HOT!
I just saw Kevin Skinner on America’s Got Talent. He’s a homely looking guy and figured he’s a hayseed that would bomb big. His opening comments about his job being to chase and catch chickens made me sure I was right.
Then he began to sing his original song. I forgot his sad-loohing face with the skewed mouth and was overwhelmed with his voice and words. I am not a country/western fan, but he got me!
Loved Kevin Skinner tonight!! Can’t wait to hear more. Much more emotion in his version than Garth’s. Love the simplicity in Kevin’s version. Keep it up Kevin.
I think after hearing Kevin Skinner i’m officially a country music fan.
down right honesty and true emotion with some basic guitar skills will make fans. he will be a internet smash and hope he makes it far on the show. his song brought out genuine tears tonight
Kevin is the reason I watch AGT. I am counting the days until I can hear his original music on the radio. I am a country fan, and this guy will or should have all the record companies lining up to sign him. Futures looking bright for Kevin…..
Wow, Just wow! This guy is awesome. I hope to hear more songs and originals with him. I posted him on myspace! Go Kevin! You’re great!
I also hope this teaches people to not judge a book by its cover.
He could win AGT, he definetly has the talent!
I am not by any means a country music fan. In fact i started to despise it being the city folk that I am. When I heard Kevin I was moved like no other performance I can remember. his talent has the ability to open your heart and then your mind. My mid has surely opened and any qualms I had with country music it seems just melted away. I am blown away just thinking of this guys on his porch on a lonely night signing this song. The peace and quite zen like trace trancesnd from his voice into your heart as if to slow you down and bring you into the serenity of his world as simple as it is being a country boy Chicken Catcher. Its truly moving and beautiful performance and Im buyin the his album and thats that.
“But so far, the only dirt I can get on him is that he is a convicted felon and he insists that he sold the white powder to singer Whitney Houston. But this is from way back in 2003 and it could be some other Kevin Skinner.”
You should be ashamed of yourself. As other posters have said, it’s obvious it’s not the same guy and by leaving this information here so that others who do searches on the AGT Kevin Skinner read this, you could seriously ruin this guy if people believe the above information has any connection to him. FIX YOUR BLOG!!! Or get off the internet, you moron.
As for the singer, Kevin seems like a real sweetheart. I can’t stand listening to most country songs because they are usually whiney and redneck with no real emotions. Kevin put his entire heart and soul into what he was singing, and it wasn’t even his own song. You can tell he lives and breaths the words he sings. I am excited to hear what he’s written himself and I wish him the best of luck!!!!
The writers of this blog are morons. From their main page:
“Chief Editor, Troy: Hi, I am Troy. I am a software engineer and writing is a hobby. I am interested in covering popular news and current affairs in United States. When I am not working with computers or writing articles, I like to go out with my friends, play soccer, scrabble etc. Thanks for stopping by.”
Yeah, stick with software engineering, because your writing on this blog is horrible AND 99% of your so-called “articles” are fake tabloids with no sources or credits to where you got information (that’s called plagarism, even if the info IS fake).
“Editor/Contributor, Jennifer: Writing has always been a hobby and besides my regular day job, I like to keep abreast of latest happenings. When they interest me, I like to present them and give a brief opinion on it.”
Apparently, Jennifer likes to know what’s going on in the real world, but she doesn’t bother editing or letting her friend, Troy in on a little secret called UPDATING! Your articles are almost all untrue information with little mentions of “check back for more info when we hear the latest” or as they write above “I am going to update this page as soon as I come across some relevant info”, but how convenient that when they GET the real information, they don’t update, they just leave their original garbage. That’s not the way REAL writers work.
You’re both the worst blog writers I’ve ever seen, and I’ve seen a lot. Stick with your day jobs and give it up!
Joe, I am letting your comment slide in. Keep it civilized and we all can exercise our first amendment.
I respect how you guys left the comments up and had the original text still
viewable. It’s commendable to not only admit ones mistakes, but to leave them there to both learn from and not be ashamed of.
I am glad you’ve respected the first ammendment and you’ve asked us to.
On that note, even a second viewing of skinner is heart touching.
WOW! That says it all… this guy made me cry like a baby – (no joke). Best wishes to Kevin S. I’ve listened to other renditions of the song but will gladly buy his version if begins to record it… Hope he wins this contest but with his talent, he doesn’t have to win this contest – all he needs is a good talent manager who can sell him to the record labels. Ladies and Gents, a new star is born!
I hope he gets in with the right people and no one takes advantage of him. He’s a little bit country and I’m a little country lover. can’t wait till his cd’s come out. Kevin the world was just waiting for you. Go get um
Your #1 Fan
I WATCHED AMERICA’S GOT TALENT AND TRULY LOVED KEVIN SKINNER’S VOICE. I LIKED HIS DOWN HOME ATTITUDE AND FELT LIKE SHARON DID, THAT HE COMES ACROSS AS A TRULY GOOD PERSON. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE HIM WIN THE SHOW AND BECOME A RECORDING STAR. IF HE DOES NOT WIN, I’M SURE THAT HE IS ON HIS ROAD TO BECOMING A STAR.
LOVE,LOVE,LOVED HIM. DREAMS CAN COME TRUE.
I have known Kevin for years and I am so happy that he is finally getting the chance to show everyone his talents. He has worked so hard for this for the last 20 years and I am so excited for him!!! His is an amazing singer and I am glad to say that I knew him way back when.
Nashville music exec’s check him out and sign him. He is the real deal with a heart. I love him and want to buy his CD!He is so authentic in his tembre and his feelings flow with the lyrics. I hope to hear more of hi. I saw Garth and think he is as good vocally. Love ya Kevin.
By far the best on agt. He blew me away. Btw he prob catches chickens for Tyson they are a big chicken co threw the south. He is a true country boy.
The chicken catcher is pure BS. AGT is trying desperately to have another Susan Boyle and from this blog, you sheep are buying it, hook, line and sinker. This guy is a young, good looking guy (once you get past the stupid hick, dufus outfit and hat they had him wear). Note, he said “I WAS a chicken catcher”-what, for one day when he was 15?
Come on people, don’t be so gullible. . .
Peter, too bad you don’t know honesty when you see it. Southern Pride is a big local chicken processing plant. They recently had a big lay off. We are in a recession/ depression dude!! Seriously you need to figure out why you don’t trust people.
peter kevin was a chicken catcher for 10 years at pilgrims pride in mayfield kentucky everything he said was true there is nothing fake about him. he is my uncle and has been my neighbor my whole 19 years. he hurt his back while working and thats why he isnt employed. those boots hat and pants were his he bought that jacket before his audition in chicago because he forgot his at home. he doesnt try please people with his looks he wants them to hear his music. thats who he is so quit downin him.
You should be very proud of your uncle. I am and I don’t even know him. He definately has my vote!
You are blessed that he’s your uncle because I tell you right now, Kevin is going to be a STAR. I’m sure you’ve had the pleasure of seeing him sing on the front porch or at family get-togethers many times over the years. Though I have never met Kevin, I feel like I’ve met him thousands of times–he’s so much like guys I know. Though I live in Ohio, my entire family hails from the hills of northern Kentucky and music is in our blood–both sides of the family have recorded music over the years, bluegrass and gospel. If Kevin can actually take a song and make it his own, as I think he did with GBs song, he will at the very least be in the finals. At any rate, when the dust settles, Kevin Skinner will have a recording contract. The sky’s the limit with him.
Robbie – your uncle should never have to worry about his back problems again – he’s gonna make it huge with that voice and honest face. It is wonderful to see someone FEEL the song they perform! I’m sure you’re proud of him and you should be. Make sure he knows how many people are rooting for him! Good luck to you all.
I have never really seen AGT before, but my husband happened to be watching the show in another room. I heard Kevin Skinner talking and I immediately started crying. I’m originally from West Virginia and his voice made me homesick. When I saw him, he reminded me so much of my brother. The people of Appalachia are a genuine people, and unfortunately, the only group left in America that can still be openely made fun of and called names, as was blatantly clear by the audience and judges. Kevin did what most hillbillies do, while very aware of other people’s ignorance and stupidity, he kept going and rose above it. For us, it would be rude to make people aware of their ignorance. He is a good and genuine man. I wish him all the best.
You go Robbie!
I never for one minute doubted his work background. He is one of the most likeable people I have ever seen. His voice is fantastic. He sings with emotion and sincerity. I can’t wait to buy his first CD and I am not really in to country music. If he does’t win, he is still on his way to stardom. What’s all this about his looks? He is a nice looking man with a great smile. I would say he is better looking than the great majority of country singers and certainly better looking than the big fat ass obese guys we see on the streets.- Wish I could relate this to him. I wish him great success!!!!!!!
Robbie…when you come across a negative remark about Kevin, try to just “SKIP” them…there are SO MANY POSITIVE remarks on the web and even here in this blog…focus on the good things people are saying because they far outwieght the bad! Your Uncle Kevin is a great person, singer, songwriter….you know that was true even before AGT….the best thing about Kevin is…he had the guts to go audition for the show (thank god)! The wheels are in motion and America has fell in love with YOUR Uncle Kevin….be happy, not defensive (I know it’s hard–it cut through me too), just read onwards and you will feel better…Mayfield, KY knows he’s real!! And anyone who “thinks” he’s a “put on” can just turn the channel!
I seen Kevin and Gentry play at Hill’s BBQ together…they sang & played for a couple of hours…cover songs, original songs, all sorts of songs….I could have listened for 5 more hours…no one wanted the night to end….such emotion in the songs…which is why he is America’s favorite!! He is a STAR!! and from right here in our hometown…and he IS YOUR UNCLE….how exciting!!
Peter your an ass for even thinking that about him, you need melt that ice off your hart and open your eyes. you dont need to know the guy to know that he went though a hard life and that what he’s saying isn’t a lie. kevin has true Emotion and its almost like you can feel everything He is, hes more then an amazing person and he is a wonderful singer. Most people cant even come close to his talent, I would like to see you perform with at lest 1% of Kevin’s talent.
There is no doubt that certain elements of AGT are “rigged.” The fact that the show ended with Kevin Skinner’s stunning performance wasn’t an accident. Saving the best for last is a staple of good television. I’m sure the producers must’ve liked what they saw in him. Whether the judges are clued in, I don’t know. Their reactions certainly appeared to have been genuine. None of that detracts from what this guy did. He wowed the judges and the crowd, and it appears a lot of us out here in TV-land as well (though I actually saw it first on YouTube). Kevin Skinner will be on the cover of country music magazines soon enough.
this guy is a true star. emocional performance.
I am a country girl and I was not happy with the way that the people made fun of Kevin…even the judges. If you are not from the South you don’t realize what “chicken catchin” is..That is how you get your chicken from the meat markets in your town…These country boys go into these HOT chickenhouses in the middle of the night and literally hand catch and put into crates on a truck 60 to 65 thousand chickens from one house….It ain’t fun work and should never be laughed at. This boy has talent but he also seems to have manners and values which is more than I can say for most of the audience until they heard him sing and then it all changed.
This is ridiculous, some people just can’t leave people alone. You know I’m sure if we looked at the backgrounds of the asses that run this website we could find all kinds of crap. You guys will never be the next TMZ so get over yourselves. I knew right from the start that Kevin was going to shut all of those idiots mouths and that exactly what he did. Big thumbs up Kevin way to go brother keep up excellent work and I’m voting for you every time your up.
Troy, I’m impressed with the way you handled the responses to your blog. Great job.
I’m streaming a country music radio station on Pandora for the first time in my life. Amazing job Kevin.
Whoever started this blog is a fuc+in idiot11!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why anyone would try and trash someones reputation by reading something on the web about Whitney Houston and a drug deal and accusing this very talented chicken catcher has got to be a fuc+in idiot. This guy is for real, he’s got a great music career no matter what happens on this hoaky ass show. Too bad the blog starter’s name isn’t Charlie Manson, or then again……………………
Kevin Skinner’s performance has inspired me to post my first ever blog comment! Since I first heard him, as I was surfing websites over the weekend, I have probably replayed his performanc at least 20 times and every time my admiration for him grows. I also just came across another performance of his–his auditionon which is being posted by Mahalo.com/kevin skinner. I don’t know country music but I believe that he was singing an original song. It hat is true, he will be not only the star that he already is, but a real superstar. I will intercede for him in prayer that he is protected in every possible way. A guy like him deserves the break, and we need to hear more from him.
does anyone know if he has a myspace?
You need to remove the information you posted about a Kevin Skinner selling dope to Whitney Houston because you have him mixed up with the Kevin Skinner who sang on America’s Got Talent and is not the same guy as the dope dealer. I would suggest you do so before you end up getting sued.
I scratched it out?
Can’t a man make an honest mistake?
Maybe someone will let Kevin know what the writer of this page is posting. When you tell lies on people and ruin their creditability then there can be serious consiqunses. I bet there is a lawyer somewhere that would just love to file a suit for the lies you are spreading and refusing to delete once you were told you were wrong.
It’s one thing to make a mistake, but to know what you are posting is a total lie is altogether a different matter. Who knows I may have to notify a couple of lawyers myself so may they can protect Kevin from slime like you!
What exactly would you like to have removed? If I remove the scratched out portion, many of the comments like yours (and others at top) won’t make any sense.
I don’t follow comments as much as if you reach me through the Contact Page on this website.

Who knows the email of Kevin. I just want to congradulate him. He’s very good and for the first time we have a singer not a competition for the highest note. A pleasant rest for my ears
Kevin’s not just going to win it, he’s going to change how people look at music all together. And make people that are in the instatement business dough what they do. he is beyond talented, and his fan base is not just people that listen to country it will be every one that sea’s him sing. im in love with this guys voice.
Hi, everyone. I am writing this comment from half a world accross, Croatia.I saw Kevin on You tube, and I can not stop watching and listening. His performance is amazing. We can all comment is he genuine, is he real chicken catcher, was he the last in the show and other bla, bla.. But all of that is not important. His voice is wonderfull and nobody can take that away from him. He sings his songs with a lot of emotion and genuinly.I will keep my fingers cross for Kevin, not only for this show but the life in general. Kevin, you are true star and the world is watching!!!
Sanja. I fully agree with you about Kevin. I also am a great admirer of one of your singers – Igor Curkov. Saw him on Eurovision and thought he was great. In my opinion, he should have one. My family agree. The song the kid from Norway sang sounded like somthing from elementary school.
i truly know how hard of work catching chickens is. I to have caught them . gathered eggs . TUKKEY EGGS TO . HOD THER TOBACCO. WEEDED THERE CORN . IT IS HARD TO MAKE A LIVING IN THEM HILLS. RIGHT PROUD OF THE BOY IF HE CAN BETTER HIMSELF , JUST DON’T OUTGROW YOUR (RAISINGS) SON . MAY GOT KEEP YOU . HAD TO MOVE OUT OF THE STATE TO MAKE A LIVING . BUT SURE MISS OLD KY.
Kevin Skinner is the real deal,he sings with passion and feelings nashville better look out.
that should be GOD NOT GOT
Really, Mamaj. Let it go, I’m a teacher and I’m not going to criticize anyone on a blog for their spelling. If that is all you can come up with, go find something else to do. Oh, and by the way, look in the mirror on your way there. God don’t like ugly.
ana lee, you need to get your head out of your butt!!
mamaj was correcting HERSELF!!! dont be so quick to
judge others, and pay attention to ALL that you read.
sheeeeesh!!!
Just goes to show what a REAL country boy can do.I love country people and kevin, you are something else. I have looked at this video over and over and over, I may never stop. You are a true american gentleman. Don’t ever change, the sky is your limit. Best of luck, you deffinately got TALLENT.
This guy is pure talent. The way Kevin sang, If Tomorrow Never Comes, with so much heart felt emotion, made me wonder if there is another story as to why he put so much emotion in the song. Is it possible there is a woman out there that broke Kevins heart? Kevin covered this Garth Brooks song extremely well. In fact, while Garth is a great singer, Kevins emotional version is better than Garths.
MammaJ,
Your son did good, he’s very talented. Can tell by reading your post your a proud mamma and raised Kevin good. Iv’e never watched America’s got talent before but saw Kevin’s video on local tv station. I think he’s got a great chance to win it all. I be watching this season. From one ole Kentucky boy to another, GOOD LUCK KEVIN………………………
I have known of Kevin for 25yrs…we went to school together. This is a small town. Kevin went on AGT and acted the same as he does around here. Thats why we are all so proud of him! Trust me he acted and dresses the same everyday around here. Yes we do have chicken catchers here they do work for Pilgrims Pride and Kevin worked with some people Ive know for long time. As for seliing drugs to Whitney Houston??? lol I know better that would have made headlines around here! People are just trying to say something bad because they are jealous! Come on lets let a decent (im sure not perfect) person have a chance!
Mel,
You ask that Kevin be given a chance. Ignore the misinformed and rejoice with Kevin that he’s finally gotten the chance he’s worked and wished for. He’s now made it through the Vegas cuts and has nowhere to go but straight to the top, whether it be as winner of AGT or as a Nashville recording star. As you can see, he’s already captured the hearts and souls of many who needed this breath of fresh country air. We cry tears of happiness with and for him.
I think this guy is terrific. As one of the judges stated, he is “genuine.” His tears are justified after what appears to be a hard life. He may now be given a break. He sings with emotion and his voice is great. I sure hope he goes all tbe way. He is very likeable.
It’s pretty sad how obviously fake this guy is, and none of you can see through it. It makes sense though. Sure he’s a great singer, but everyone needs a story, or something that makes them stand out. Being a good singer just isn’t enough. For me it’s hard to enjoy him, knowing full well he’s putting on an act. Whether he was put up to it by the producers to create our own Susan Boyle, or it’s his own thing, it’s pretty pathetic.
I can assure you that Kevin is not putting on an act! He is a down home country boy who is trying to better himself. There is NOTHING fake about him! If you would read the comments from people who know him, you would not be writing such garbage!
I’m sorry but I don’t care whether people say they know him or not. This is the internet, people can say whatever they want. Again, I’m not disputing his talent whatsoever, but I’d put money on the fact that his act is fake.
And for all the people saying that this shows how americans judge people without giving them a chance, I knew right off the bat that he’d be good. You could totally tell they were setting him up to be bad, just to surprise everyone. And I guarantee the judges knew he was good before we saw him perform. C’mon, this is ‘reality’ tv.
“…I’d put money on the fact that his act is fake.”
How much?
i would also like a piece of that action!!!
chris, i hope you like giving away money.
Kevin Skinner’s performance on AGT was simply amazing. He has a unique voice. I am not a country music fan but I will definately be purchasing his first CD. GOOOOOOOOOO KEVIN!
Robbie I think I might be related to you. My mom and dad grew up in Fancy Farm. My mom was born there. We go to the Fancy Farm picnic every chance we get. My moms maiden name was Skinner. Her brother Bud Skinner lived in Fancy Farm until he passed away. My moms name was Margaret Skinner. My dad also grew up in Fancy Farm his name was Bill Garland. My Aunt and Uncle on my dads side lived right up the street from Bud Skinner. They are Rudy & Judy Elliott. Let me know if you think we are related. Congrats on Kevin!!
Robbie never mind, I just found out Kevin is my cousin so I would assume you are my cousin also. If he is Joe Eds son then I have the right person. I haven’t seen him since he was a little boy. Joe Ed told us about his son that played music and all but I didn’t realize it was the same person. Tell Joe Ed congrats!!!!!
Kevin Skinner! Fantástico! Extraordinario! Una estrella internacional!
Bravo Kevin! Your dream is alive! I never like country music before, until I saw Kevin! Authentic, you can see his pure soul! A gentleman extraordinary human being! A mexican fan wish you the best!@ The size of your success will be the size of the effort that you had put chasing your dream! It will be Magnificient!
..Hey guys..can you please revise this blog! i nearly believe on what this blog info..thanks you for those who gives explanation about this whitney huston..!!what ever!! KEvin Skinner is a real man!!Hes not FAKE FAKE FAKE FAKE FAKE…ok!!….
KEVIN SKINNER YOU ROCK!!!!LONG LIVE COUNTRY
Yes, thanks MisstAnn and Chris, for going to bat for Kevin! How can people be so stupid!?! Anyone who really watched his performance could only have NICE things to say about him and anyone acquainted with him HAS to be proud to know him! I don’t know him, but I’m from the country in (London) KY too and know what it’s like to set on the porch and feel peace! I have watched the video over and over and after hearing him talk about sitting on his porch and “maybe count the stars”, I can just imagine him strumming the guitar and looking out at the stars…sounds so peaceful! I have never added comments to ANY blogs before, but there’s something about Kevin the man, his singing and his guitar playing (oh what a beautiful sound!) that simply has me hooked! GO KEVIN…you’re the best!!!!
Im not a country western music fan but he can sing and he sings with such heart. I have lots of respect for this man. Thats how people should be jusged not my race or background but my good value and talent. Hes going to go far.
Kevin has a great Voice and If he makes it to the next round of America’s Got Talent I think he should try to do a song by Keith Witley. He has the voice and I think he would do great at it. Either way good luck with you Kevin.
I knew in my heart that the minute Kevin’s incredible voice opened up to the world, people would stop snickering and scoffing and end up picking their jaws up off the floor with two hands!!! Hurray Kevin and God Bless you and the gift He gave you! I’d marry you in a heartbeat and happily count stars with you on the front porch, cheek to cheek, forever and ever Amen! Given that dream would probably never happen – Kev, you’re going to soar to stardom. Just don’t let success ruin the wonderful, genuine, REAL person that you are now. I’m a Kevin Skinner believer!
Being born and raised in Kentucky I can relate to the way all were making fun of Kevins apperance and accent but really isn’t there a little of Kevin in all of us. Haven’t we been in situations where we were the person out of place and being made fun of. Kevin delivered a message for all of us and that may be the reason we are hoping he does his best. He’s not Garth Brooks, I don’t expect him to be ! I expect him to be what he is . A country boy who loves music and is trying to get through this life the best he can by contributing a song to all of us who needs one. From one Ky. boy to another, Kevin sing your heart out, the rest will take care of it’s self.
Tommy, excellent post !
What a fantastic performance! Kevin is a winner!!!
Kevin
I’m trying to get a start like you as a songwriter. I have material you could do very well. contact me.
It is funny how scumbags poke their heads out and for NO good reason attempt to destroy a young man who is probably on the verge of becoming a country music star. The old saying “if you can not say anything good about someone, do not say anything at all” would seem so fitting here. You published a “dope dealing” story in connection with Whitney Houston without checking ONE good source. The person that wrote this story must have graduated from the Dan Rather School of Journalism.
Has anyone checked out his website, the other two songs on there? The audio is really bad, but you can tell. The first. about his grandma is okay, and important to him, the other, “This Sorrow” with the goth-looking girl in the graveyard, has an amazing song. The audio there is also terrible, but the song, the lifts and drops, the patterns are amazing. That’s the song I’d like to hear clearly.
Kevin Skinner is the real deal, but before we get carried away with the “Real American” Palan thing, on his website it tells about him and his family. His older brother, Michael, graduated from Norte Dame University, in Paris, France, and is now a concert pianist.
I am from Western Ky and find Kevin to be a very talented young man. Of course I am partial because he is from our region.
Best wishes to Kevin for great success. He deserves it.
This may sound a bit off, but considering Kevin is a country singer/guitarist, I believe his finals song choice should be something a bit more uplifting than “Always On My Mind”.
Don’t get me wrong, I love both Willie’s and Michael Buble’s renditions and thought Kevin performed it quite well, but in the finals he will need the crowd and judges behind him more than ever.
Two possible song choices:
1) Suspicious Minds (Elvis and Dwight did it, why not Kevin?)
2) Heard It In a Love Song (this choice b/c Kevin sounds like Marshall Tucker’s vocalist – plus it’s a cool tune)
Just my 2 cents.
Living in N.C. to hear of a hometown boy doing good feels great. This guy has tallent. A country singer of his caliber is always welcome to my ears. I was born in Mayfield Ky. He seems to be ginuine and hummel to me. Alot of people from that area have struggled. As far as I remember there were no Hillbillys on the western portion of the state!!!! Who cares if he is or isn’t, Kevin can sing period. You go boy!!!
Kevin is awesome and obviously a humble man from humble beginnings. Even if he does not win, his career will skyrocket. I just hope the music industry does not change him on the inside. He’s beautiful, real, and full of talent from the heart.
I’ve never been a fan of country but I would buy Kevin’s music in a heartbeat. He’s the real deal and I hope he wins AGT 2009.
LOVE YOU KEVIN!!!!!!
I have been a great fan of Kevin from the beginning. I would love t hear him sing Eddie Arnold’s “Make The World Go Away” He is so special! Hope he wins!!!
Anyone in this forum that thinks Kevin is not for real, and thinks he’s faking is definately not a good judge of character, end of story. This talented young man will have a great career…. He definately performs from his heart…. GOOD LUCK KEVIN.
You have to be kidding, this Kevin Skinner on AGT, is without a doubt the WORST singer I have ever heard. I have heard on AGT many better singers than him, no doubt. I realize its a show and all that america votes people to the top but this guy should have never made it past the front door of the audition area. No one is going to see this fellow in Vegas, no one, I live in Vegas and I can not see any casino giving him more than a one or two night shot at the big time. He sings flat, he sings without any real command of the words he is singing. Country Music, is way more sophisticated than what this fellow has to offer. Some one or some web entity hijacked the sight and pushed the worst performer through to the top. America is not that tone deaf. There was no contest and this chap should have been sent home many weeks ago.
He is a cry baby and Mister sensitive, but get real, if the bucket to carry a tune were as big as a ocean this guy could not carry the tune. I wish him well and glad he got a million bucks but he better save it as he has no future in the world of singers. My hat is however off to the person or persons that hijacked AGT site, if they investigate it, which I am sure they already have, they need better security on the site and allowing people to vote 10 times is not a vote that is absurd. AGT, you blew it. Kevin, you got a great payday and I hope you like playing to empty halls.
“America’s Got Talent” or “America’s Got A Nice, Humble Sweet Guy With Marginal Singing Ability” What was the real title of the TV show? Something was screwed up with the voting process, allowing every redneck, hillbilly out-of-work sympathizer to vote a zillion times, making Skinner the winner. The obvious mega talent superstar that deserved the prize was Barbara. She is a godess with a voice above the angels. She was very nice sweet, and humble, too, just like Kevin. AND she had the talent of the century and did not win? That’s as bad a Catherine McPhee taking 2nd on American Idol a about 4 years ago. America has poor, second rate taste. At least the majority of America. Too bad we are going down the drain when it comes to reading ability and the ability to discern true talent above that of a bar singer.
ahhhhhh, many of the best performers of the past started as “bar singers” , dont knock it.
oh, bye the bye, i think the right person won. i think if barbara
would have won, her talent would have been wasted in las vegas. i
think she will do alot better and have better opportunities
than if she would have won! she would have wasted to much time
being locked into a vegas contract. now she can find a good
manager to book her into the venues that she deserves and
where she can let her great talent really shine.
