Mandatory evacuation orders have been issues for the residents in Glen Annie and La Patera Canyons by the fire and sherrif departments of Santa Barbara.
For the residents above Cathedral Oaks Road between Glenn Annie road and Fairview Anenue however its just an evacuation warning but the residents ought to be prepared to evacuate in case the sitation gets worse.
About 300 acres has been burnt in the Gap area. Firefighters are reporting that the fire is burning in a southerly direction at a slow rate of speed. The fire is burning through mature chaparral 15-20 feet tall creating flames links between 10-30 feet.
Firefighters are attacking this fire from the air, currently flying 4 retardant dropping air-tankers and 4 water dropping helicopters. Strike teams from Los Angeles and Ventura County are aiding in the fight as well crews from the city of Los Angeles.

This could not be a picture of the Gap Fire as woodlands in Santa Barbara are live oak and chaparral rather than conifer.

I agree thats not the Gap Fire, for better info check out inciweb or NFCI website and click on National Fire Situation Report, that will give you alot better info on what we the feds are dealing with throughout the state and the nation.
Gentlemen, my mistake. I depended on google to retrieve the fire images and did not double check to confirm their veracity. Thanks for pointing it out, I have made amends. I have also updated the post to direct users to the Santa Barbara County Fire department website as I fully understand that given the dangerous situation, information should be timely and correct to the best knowledge available.
