Glenn Beck is the new host for Fox network and if I am asked to venture my opinion about him, let me tell you upfront that he is a nut. No doubt he is a proud, American loving patriot and all, be he is still a nut nevertheless.

The reason I say this is because these guys thrive on fear. They always want to have fear floating around and they capitalize on it.
Glenn is a dyed in the wool conservative and a Republican supporter. Now conservatism is known for a fiscal policy which does not lean towards government spending or government programs or government intervention in the daily lives of the citizens.
So when Bush – a conservative and Republican – passed a stimulus bill for the economy and gave bail out to Banks etc. Beck was shrill about it I think but he never ventured into making stupid comments that America is becoming socialist etc.
But the moment Obama took over and did the same, now suddenly American was on the path of irrevocable Socialism and Communism and Naz1sm and what not.

I am rappidly approaching 76 – was part of the march on Washington – and I have never been so proud to be a part of something so special. Go Fox, Glenn Beck, and USA.
I am not proud but will always respect Glen Becks right to free speech. You got it I am a DEM. and proud of it. It is sad that so much negative stuff comes from someone who claims to be all that. More than ever Glen sounds like an intertainer and not a much else. Why do you think so many advertisers step away from him. What happened to talking about issues without using crazy accusations like communits, nazi and other really irresponsible name calling that only insights anger and resentments in this country. As for the recovering alcoholic that is questionable in my recovering mind. Sounds more like a self centered dry drunk and all the crazy crap that follows that lifestyle. I listen to what this croud has to say and it is helpful to me so I don’t allow myself to be pulled into so much hatefulness and devisiveness. You do more to help the DEM. cause than hurt it so for the Glen Beck and other wild right comentators and intertainers keep it up you are doing us a big favor. As a fequent Beck listener and TV show viewer it is apparent to me you have not watched or listened to his presentations. Glen amoung other things presents video clips of White house Zsars and officials saying anti capitalism, anti free speach, anti American, pro Chavez pro Mao statements that are truly alarming to a freedom loving citizen like myself. Beck encourages anyone to dispute what he presents and no one calls. I encourage you to familiarize yourself about that which you so inacurately speak.

I have spent extensive time in central and south america. Our past policies have caused many problems for the citizens. Mistakes on our part and sending mixed messages with some of our congressional staff talking about how great these socialists like Chavez and Castro are doing for their people. I have received health care from socialists and any person that says it is great is lying. Talk to the average chinese citizen and see if they are pleased. Glenn is at least trying to expose these truths. Would it be better if everyone was forced to only read or see government approved news? That has worked so well for people around the globe.

This is a sad time we live in. We must never forget our right to free speech, but must also remain aware that this freedom does not give us the right to yell “fire!” in a building where there is no fire. The same principle is true for any distortion of the truth or other sinister deeds of mis-information. Such atrocities are the basis for the likes of Beck, Limbaugh, and most politicians. I saw the remark that claimed that Beck cried tears of pride in response to the 912 project, but I really hope he was crying because he knows that he is part of the problem, not part of the solution. These devisive tactics will cause further deterioation of our county’s principles and strength as a nation. While you are remembering the Constitution, and our right to free speech, also remember these words from the Pledge of Allegiance “…one nation, indivisible…”, and remember that if you are creating this division, you are being un-American.

If we keep being quiet, then we will lose all of our freedoms, as we are beginning to now. Don’t wait ’till it’s too late. That’s the message Glenn Beck is sending and I agree!! The silent majority can no longer be silent!! Without people like Glenn Beck fighting for your rights and democracy, we will be left without them. And that’s the sad truth.
Great post Becky, you are absolutley correct. We must not be silent, but we must also be wise in our commentary. Resorting to anything less than the truth will not bring the change we need in our country. Hatred, mis-information, distortion of facts, any of these constitute a breach of integrity and lessen our ability to bring lasting, measurable change.
Write your representatives often, but take the time to carefully craft what you want to say; be credible and be heard. It has truly been eye opening to me to see which representatives respond to my letters in a personalized fashion, while others don’t bother, or simply reply with a form letter. Since I do not vote straight ticket, it helps me see who I should vote for the next time around.
Because journalism is just a part of the for-profit entertainment industry which is more dependent on ratings than the truth, I encourage and try to influence everyone to seek the truth, not from one, but from a variety of sources, then speak your mind. Speak in an intelligent and from a well thought position of integrity and you will be heard!

Becky, you are absolutely correct about speaking up for our rights, but I dissagree with your position that Glenn Beck is helping fight for our rights. He is part of the jouranlistic industry which is part of the for-profit entertainment industry. He is driven by ratings more than by thruth.
To be heard, to make lasting change in the right direction, we must not compromise integrity by distorting facts and mis-informing others. We must not stoop to using hatred or inciting anger with our power to influence.
Instead, I encourage everyone to seek the truth from multiple sources, you cannot rely on a single source that is in it for the money. This truth must come from those of use who truly seek change for our country and fear where we will end up if we do not participate.
Write your representatives often, will well-though and carefully crafted prose. Do not rely on Beck, or anyone else to speak for you – to often they only want numbers behind them so they can inflence their own agenda.
I have learned over time that developing a repoire with our senators and congressmen yields multiple results. One, once you have established yourself as a level headed constituent you will see which ones repect you enough to respond in a personalized fashion-then you know you are being heard. Others will reply with simple form letters, mass mail, or not at all. This is very helpful when you are deciding how to vote next time around.

If you will research the incentive & subsidy programs that have been put forth in the past by our governments agriculture department, such as in the dairy industry, wool & mohair and farming. They have always built a false market that resulted in the total collapse of the industry leaving tons upon tons of overstock being warehoused. Plus adding even more money to the tax payers expense and driving the producers out of business. Thus forcing them to sell their family farms that are being bought largely by foreign Corporations.
The only true market that is successful is driven by supply and demand. Not a false governmentally invented market.
Being that said, you made a comment that pointed at the agricultural and rural America “that still makes up 60% of the US census” about our modern day slavery and illegal immigrants.
Resolution: If we had total welfare reform and cut all the checks of tomorrow and forced these undesirable’s of their porches and into the workforce we would curb 90% of the alien problems that we have, revert their criminal habits resolve our welfare issue and reinstate a productive America instead of supporting freeloaders. Would really like to see someone or some group do a thorough investigation of our public schools and colleges. Kids graduating are dumber the ever and yet we keep throwing money at the schools. I just read an article with a college pres. who said kids are having to take remedial courses in their freshman year as they just don’t grasp college material. My nephews dau. graduated with honors from a Vt.H.S., but when she got to college she had to take remedial reading and math. If kids don’t deserveto graduate or pass don’t let them. If they and parents get upset that is too darn bad. We are wasting our money on incompetents, teachers & admin. and parents&kids.

You are telling the American people the truth about Washington. I always liked the Republican party but soon learned that they were as bad as the dem’s. Mr. Beck: I listen to you every day, and agree with almost everything that you have to say. Please keep up the good work. I notice you still have not received a telephone call to negate anything you have aired. One other important thing: We have a chance to win big in 2010, but only if we keep a two party system. Let us work on getting all the Conservatives possible in office, but we need other Republicans, even if not conservative, to get the votes, and stay united, in one party.
I think that the people who snuck in the White House were set up by Obama or his handlers. The purpose is to begin the putdown of FBI,Secret Service and CIA. The final result will be the replacement of Secret Service, etc. with people in “an army as large and well equipped as the present army.” This army will guard him and perform all other services of the CIA,FBI, etc. They will probably be chosen from the group that handled with intimidation and batons the voting stations in the last elections.

How is it that no one is talking about Social Security checks. No raise but our Medicar Benefits cost us more as do our secondary insurance plans. This is another way of saying the senior’s in this country do not count. Our President, Congress and the Senate care more about illegal aliens. I thank you for all of your hard work and your caring. America was built with the IN GOD WE TRUST base. I know I am sick and tired of our government telling me what Doctor I can see etc. Next it will be issuing food stamps with only a few things I can have or not have. I live in Hawaii and can not see you movie one the third or tenth. I guess the Democrats here do not want us hearing what you haave to say. Oh I forgot I am a registerd Democrat. Glen, concerning our situation on Global Warming. As a retired and disabled coal miner that had worked 30 yr. underground, I say this. You want to stop thing now, esp. with cap and trade? Just turn off all the coal fired plants and let these nerds sheps sit in the COLD dark this winter without any electricity. And then leave those plants idle so that no gasoline can be pumped, water pumped, grocery stores closed, no schools, etc, etc. Our nation has cleaned up its air substantially in the last two decades, while Canada has no regulation as well as China, India, Africa, Asia, and only God knows who else. Think of our economy without this cheap generation asset!!

Your show on Stalin etc. is a great idea. My sons didn’t see or read about it when they attended high school, I told them myself and got books from the library for them read.
Movies and books about the atrocities of Stalin, Mao, and Hitler etc were given when I was in high school history class in the early 50’s.
Another subject missing from history class is where our ideas of equality or man and God etc. originate. Our founding fathers who wrote the Constitution were all scholars of Greek philosophy. The great Greek thinkers were the first to declare that all men are created equal by God. Hence “In God We Trust” is engraved on many buildings and monuments in Washington DC.

Within hours of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States, this editorial became popular because it offers words of solace and encouragement for a nation in pain. However, what many missed was that it was actually written at a different time for different pain.
TRIBUTE TO THE UNITED STATES
This, from a Canadian newspaper, it’s worth sharing.
Widespread but only partial news coverage was given recently to a remarkable editorial broadcast from Toronto by Gordon Sinclair, a Canadian television Commentator. What follows is the full text of his trenchant remarks as printed in the Congressional Record:
America: The Good Neighbor.
“This Canadian thinks it is time to speak up for the Americans as the most generous and possibly the least appreciated people on all the earth. Germany, Japan and, to a lesser extent, Britain and Italy were lifted out of the debris of war by the Americans who poured in billions of dollars and forgave other billions in debts.
None of these countries is today paying even the interest on its remaining debts to the United States. When France was in danger of collapsing in 1956, it was the Americans who propped it up, and their reward was to be insulted and swindled on the streets of Paris. I was there. I saw it.
When earthquakes hit distant cities, it is the United States that hurries in to help. This spring, 59 American communities were flattened by tornadoes. Nobody helped. The Marshall Plan and the Truman Policy pumped billions of dollars into discouraged countries. Now newspapers in those countries are writing about the decadent, war mongering Americans.
I’d like to see just one of those countries that is gloating over the erosion of the United States dollar build its own airplane. Does any other country in the world have a plane to equal the Boeing Jumbo Jet, the Lockheed Tri-Star, or the Douglas DC10?
If so, why don’t they fly them? Why do all the International lines except Russia fly American Planes? Why does no other land on earth even consider putting a man or woman on the moon? You talk about Japanese technocracy, and you get radios. You talk about German technocracy, and you get automobiles. You talk about American technocracy, and you find men on the moon – not once, but several times – and safely home again.
You talk about scandals, and the Americans put theirs right in the store window for everybody to look at. Even their draft-dodgers are not pursued and hounded. They are here on our streets, and most of them, unless they are breaking Canadian laws, are getting American dollars from ma and pa at home to spend here.
When the railways of France, Germany and India were breaking down through age, it was the Americans who rebuilt them. When the Pennsylvania Railroad and the New York Central went broke, nobody loaned them an old caboose. Both are still broke.
I can name you 5000 times when the Americans raced to the help of other people in trouble. Can you name me even one time when someone else raced to the Americans in trouble? I don’t think there was outside help even during the San Francisco earthquake.
Our neighbors have faced it alone, and I’m one Canadian who is damned tired of hearing them get kicked around. They will come out of this thing with their flag high. And when they do, they are entitled to thumb their nose at the lands that are gloating over their present troubles. I hope Canada is not one of those.”

This is one of the best editorials that I have ever read regarding the United States. It is nice that one man realizes it. I only wish that the rest of the world would realize it. We are always blamed for everything, and never even get a thank you for the things we do.

This is your friend Terrie.The last time I wrote to you I was sad. This time I’m mad. I watched the state of the union last night. At first I thought that it going alright, talking about jobs. But the more he talked, an uneasy feeling came over me. I felt that the American people were being lectured to. He only said what they wanted to hear, meaning the American people. Then he started blaming the GOP (the “no” party) He thinks that GOP started the Tea Parties. But he is wrong. Glenn I would like to tell you a little about myself. I know you are a busy man, I will hurry. I was born and raised in Idaho. But I live in Minnesota with my husband and my son. I have not always felt this way about politics but I do know I have to pay attention more for my son and grandchilden.

Glenn, the other night you were using a pie to illustrate the amt. of taxes paid by the wealthy, I was interrupted late in the show so my comment may be wrong. If you were implying that a small % of the people pay most of the taxes well yes they make the largest amount of money. Percentage wise they pay less than the middle class because of the tax code loop holes that they can take advantage of. As Warren Buffet pointed out, his Secretary paid a larger % of her income in taxes than he did. If we go to a flat tax or a fair tax they will still pay more. What was your point??? I know that it’s winter and it’s cold outside and they have to pay for convention center’s.But for people like me who can’t afford it we won’t be able to attend. Iweant you to knoe that I served my country proudly for almost 21 years in the United States Army. I was awarded the Broze Star in Desert Shield and Desert Storm ,and I don’t, appreciate you telling me that I stupid or lazy for accepting a position at the Post Office. I don’t have time to read all of the comments..I have been watching Glen Beck for about 6 months now, and I haven’t at any time heard him say anything but what I know to be true…he shows videos of what the President has said before and after elections, and in his own words what he’s trying to do,then Obama turns around and says something different. Now, what he’s trying to do is make us a country dependent on government and their takeover of our rights, not only us Americans, but the rights of the Health Insurance Companies to have business’s and employee people,the doctors rights to practice what they want and on whom they want, and are accepting of illegal aliens to have health insurance Americans have, without having to pay. Pregnent women can have abortions, and we have to pay for them. It is going to cause a dominoe affect in every aspect of this countries dealings, and give power to the administration to begin taking away all of our rights that are in our constitution. Everything this President is doing is going against our constitutional rights, which America was founded on. The only thing I see Beck doing is educating us about our history and founding fathers blood, sweat and tears that brought this nation together as a nation in the first place. I don’t hear one thing coming from anybody in Washington ever even referring to the Constitution. In fact, Obama’s regime and supporters have been shown to be Socialists and Communists, and when you see them speaking in their own words, that they are “taking this country down”, that is pretty scary stuff.
Forgot to ask one question of Glenn….When a President is blatently going against our constition’s principals,including bribery to put certain people in offices, can’t he/she, anybody in the administration that is doing so….be impeached! We voted them in, and I feel we should be able to vote them out! His agenda is definitely “power to me”, and I see that as an offence to this country.

Back in the 50’s & 60’s (When I was living in Rancho Santa Fe.Cal) I used to have a terrific group of people come to my meetings above the Firehouse every week to learn all the things about Socialism and Communism. I thought then that we were already on a fast-track away from caring for the great country I had loved all my life! Little did I know! Now, I am 82 years old, Just widowed in 2007,from the most wonderful man, who went up the Beach on D-day, loved this country as I do,and gave me 17 gorgeous children.!!!
When I was in the 5th Grade we had the big book-burning at my elementary school..(The Thomas D. Dewey Elementary!) We each carried our Math and History books out to the playground and threw them into the huge Bonfire that lighted up the school yard. My parents were really furious at this order given by FDR…
It really horrifies me when I talk to people today (young people, school children and liberals) It is as if I have come from another planet!!! (Or perhaps they have!)
