Academy award winning actor and lots of activities actor Ron Silver has passed away. Ron Silver also won an Emmy for his role in the blockbuster hit The West Wing. Ron died of Esophageal Cancer but he passed away in his sleep and died peacefully according to his family.

The actor Ron  Silver was with his family in New York City and had been battling esophageal cancer for almost two years now.

Ron had been a great guy and I always enjoyed his movies. Plus he used the stardom to shed light on important issues of the day. He was an activitist.

Many of you also must be wondering what is Esophageal Cancer so I am going to cover a bit on this as well.

Esophageal Cancer is basically the cancer that forges in human tissues that line the esophagus. Esophagus is the tube from which your food goes into your stomach.

Broadly, there are 2 types of esophageal cancer. Squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinom.

First means cancer that begins in flat cells inside the esophagus  and second means cancer that forms in cells that make and release mucus and other fluids.

So you can imagine how critically you get effected if you get this cancer.
