Minnesotans are going to be darn proud and if you may ask why is that? 25 year old Matthew Liebsch of Plymouth has won the classic tradition of American Birkebeiner Trail Run. Matt led a strong performance for the Hayward based Team and they took about 2 hours, 11 minutes and 47.9 seconds to accomplish this feat.
Andre Watt of Duluth from the same team was the top local home boy, ranking in 6th in the 25 miles est. run from Cable to Hayward.

In the women’s category, Rebecca Dussault, 28, from Gunnison, Colo., came in first and she had pushed out Holly Brooks of Anchorage, Ala. By the way the finish was too gripping as till the finish line they were neck to neck almost.
In this years American Birkebeiner event, the highest number of registered skiers ever were recorded in the history of the event.
