Mark Gottfried
Mark Gottfried, the basketball coach of Alabama has put in his papers and resigned from his position. In fact this fellow is leaving right in the middle of the season but you can’t blame him for leaving at least. He has been criticized for the way his team has been performing and also the fact that a star player has abdicated.
Mr Gottfried will be replaced by his assistant coach for the time being. And don’t forget guys, his next game is coming Thursday with or at Arkansas.
I am sure there must have been lots of drama on the campus, loud noise and banged up doors. According to my source at the offices, Mark resigned during the meeting with the Athletic director Mal Moore. If you have any inside details, do leave a shout out below.
But both sides are being diplomatic about it by thanking each other for the time spent during this endeavor.
“It has been a wonderful decade for me and my family, and I love the University of Alabama, but I feel that it is in the best interests of everyone involved,” Gottfried said in a statement released by the university.
Crimson Tide had a very pathetic year so now hopeully with the new captain on board this ship, maybe they will do better. Do you guys have any hopes? Auburn folks stay outta here. (Not really…LOL).
Mark Gottfried Affair
I heard about it and it could be real or it could be just the regular juicy campus lore. According to the rumor mills, Mark had an affair with a student. I am sure other readers and perhaps UA students can give more insight into this below.

If his resignation will do good for the team in their next game this Thursday, may be Gottfried is not right for the team.. Maybe Pearson is.. Good Luck to Alabama Crimson Tide..
It, is true that Mark Gottfried has been having an affair, but it was not with his secretary. Supposedly it is a young girl that just graduated last year. I have heard that it has been going on since November. I do know that he and this girl got locked in the University of Alabama golf facility and had to be let out one night…
That was Wimp, more than 15 years ago. Problems on court with players and results would have gotten him at the end of the year.
Off the court screwing around with a co-ed, and not being very discreet about it, got him canned before everything came out.
Part of the buyout was a gag clause for both parties; hence the “resignation”.
I hope Pearson does a great job the rest of the year, helping him land a head coaching job somewhere else next season.
Tune in ESPN for his debut tonight at Arkansas.

Philip Pearson is a class act! He has proven himself to be a disciplined, well rounded, well grounded person who is one of the top recruiters in the nation. It is sad that the University will not give him the chance to move up to the head coaching position permanently, but whatever school eventually gets him will be lucky. We wish him the very best – he deserves it!
