I know Auburn fans are dying to know this and trust me, I want to be the last one to keep them hanging by their eye balls. So here it is and this comes straight from the horses mouth – Auburn has confirmed hiring Iowa State’s Gene Chizik as its new football coach.
Gene was the former defensive coordinator who helped Iowa State’s Tigers cultivate and develop a potent and perfect season. This guy at least won five games in two years.
Chizik’s moves are going to prove quite expensive for all the parties involved since everything is nailed down in the contract. Auburn will end up paying Gene not only his new salary but also high price to to his old employer for breaking the contract. But whatever.
Gene Chizik Salary Stats: The agreement binding the two parties was signed sometime in February 19, 2007, and was in effect for about six years from what a bird tells me. Gene pocketed a cool $250,000 annual base salary and $800,000 in “additional bonus compensation” for showing up on TV and doing radio shows. Not bad but all this only if you keep winning. If you lose, your ticket goes down and everybody drops you like a hot potato.
Interestingly, Gene had failed to reach any of his objectives at the last job he held. HAHA. Good luck with that Auburn.
