The article first appeared in Card’s hometown newspaper, The Rhinoceros Times of Greensboro, North Carolina, in which he blasts the media for “consenting to or actively promoting a big fat lie,†about who is to blame for the housing crisis, and throwing away “everything that journalism is supposed to stand for,†to “get people to vote for Barack Obama.â€
I have posted the excerpt below. I think newspapers ought to report the truth as much as possible and let people make up their minds. But its always tempting to tell their side of the story and I guess every body indulges in it. Below is a passage.
“Your job, as journalists, is to tell the truth. That’s what you claim you do, when you accept people’s money to buy or subscribe to your paper.â€
Orson Scott Card is a best-selling author, political writer, speaker, and most likely he is going to be voting for the Democratic party in the coming elections. But now he has taken up cudgels against the newspaper in the country, who in their eagerness to have people support the Dems, are blaming the housing mess and current financial mess on the Republicans. The letter is doing the various rounds of the internet.
“Meanwhile, you have participated in the borking of Sarah Palin, reporting savage attacks on her for the pregnancy of her unmarried daughter — while you ignored the story of John Edwards’s own adultery for many months.â€
