The previously unreleased film clip of the Hollywood premiere of Charlie Chaplin’s 1928 film “The Circus” shows what looks like a woman talking on a cell phone in the background.  The clip recently appeared on YouTube and has had many considering the woman as a time traveler.
Experts are now saying the woman was most likely wearing a hearing device known as an ear trumpet, which was popular in that era.
“As you can tell from these, old-fashioned mechanical or resonating hearing aids were not necessarily long and rounded,” Philip Skroska, an archivist at the Bernard Becker Medical Library of Washington University in St. Louis, told Fox News. “Short, compact rectangular forms were not unusual.”
So those hoping for clues about the possibility of time travel will have to keep looking, and perhaps watch the recently released 25th anniversary of “Back to the Future” to satisfy their time-travel desires.
